Anybody working the half tons with the stock air suspension? I am a prospective buyer and have a four wheeler and camp trailer that I would be towing. I will be close to capacity but think it will work great. Looking for opinions and/or pics. Four wheeler would be in bed and obviously towing the travel trailer.

Thanks

What type of 4 wheeler? No matter what you have it sounds like you will at least be maxing out payload, probably going over it depending on what travel trailer you have.

Kawasaki prairie 360 is the wheeler. About 700 pounds, and trailer weighs 6500 pounds loaded. About 700 tongue weight. I do realize that's about the payload but will have an equalizer hitch. I have in the past towed a small trailer with 4 wheeler and dirt bike behind my travel trailer which would keep me well under payload. I only tow my travel trailer ten or so times a year. Total weight of both trailers is under 8000 for sure. The other 99% of the time the truck will be unloaded which is why I'm leaning towards the half ton over 3/4 ton. 3/4 ton would be great, but get crappier mileage the other 99% of time. Looking at 8 speed with 3.92 gears. I wanted a diesel again but isn't really practical for daily driving

I am not opposed to getting a smaller/lighter trailer if the truck can't pull it well. It's 30 feet long as well. I think it can handle it fairly well, but don't want to go over axle ratings for sure.

It will be well under towing capacity but if you are hauling 3 or 4 people you will be 500 lbs over payload depending on your cab configuration and trim level. The payload on my outdoorsman was 1181 lbs. That was a crew cab 6'4 box 4x4. You will be at 1400 lbs with no gear or people. From what people are saying the air suspension it shuts down around 2000 lbs.

That's good info right there. I was wondering what the stock bags could support. I realize I may be over capacity but the truck is more than capable.
Here's my previous setup which was probably over payload by a bit on my f250. I have since sold the rack and yellow 4 wheeler to buy my son a dirt bike. I can get a hitch mount rack for the bike to go on the back of the trailer or just tow the little trailer behind the travel trailer. Legal in idaho.

I've had a few heavy loads of dirt and hardwood in my limited and only to the point of the air suspension system no longer allowing me to raise the truck.
