So as we are all aware of the lunging issues, mine has been doing it since brand new, and is currently at 30k. I took it in around 20k, reflashed, nothing really changed.

I took it to a different dealer last week, reflashed, and they they opened a star case. Brought back today for further testing, Chrysler has the tech drive another RAM on the lot, same specs, and it's doing the same thing. Chrysler thus declares my truck normal and the dealer and I are at a stand still.

I was pretty much told to hope it gets worse, and maybe then we can get somewhere. What doesn't help either is no codes are being thrown as well.

Any suggestions?

Mine was flashed with an updated build specifically for the 3.6l. It lowers the shift point for 2-1 to 0.0mph for a certain amount of time (a complete stop). This results in 2nd gear driving unless you are stopped for more than a second.

It fixes the lunge/clunk. If I can find my work order I'll snap a picture if the fix and post it.

Thanks guys, I should have changed my profile, I have actually traded in for a Hemi, which is the truck in question.

No fix yet as far as I know. Some say the re-learn helps for 5.7s.

I was floored by the response Chrysler gave the tech in regards to my truck "being normal" because an equal truck on the lot does the same thing. I asked the service advisor if the 15's or 16's do it, in which there was no response.

Hmm, strange. The biggest complaint I have about my '16 5.7/8-spd is that you have to come to a COMPLETE stop for at least a second or two before it will downshift to 1st gear. So lots of times you take off in second gear, and then it downshifts into first after 10 feet of bogging out.

So it sounds like this is intentional, to prevent the clunking that was happening in the pre-'15 trucks??? Awesome. (sarcasm)

My 2017 does not have this problem. My 2014 RAM 1500 with 3.6 Pentastar had the problem but a flash fixed it.

Lunging has subsided from every stop to about 1 out of every 10 since the new flashes. Still may come back considering it still happens somewhat. I know some where a new tranny fixed the issue.

If I'm not mistaken, the quick re-learn can take some miles to settle in. Just not 2,000-3,000 like the initial factory learn/break-in.

Hi Blackram28376,

As SitKneelBend mentioned, re-learns can take a few hundred miles to fully experience the update. If the lunging continues past that, please let me know.
