So I'm thinking about putting a body lift on my ram truck. I've been looking around the forums and see leveling kits, spacers, and body lifts kits. If someone says that they have a 2" leveling kit and a 3" lift kit, does that mean its a total of a 5" lift? What if I wanted a total lift of 2-3"....can I just get the lift kit?

Yes a 2" level with a 3" body gives a total of 5" lift. That's what I've got on my truck (see pic).

if you just want 2-3" of lift you have 2 options. You can do a leveling kit in the form of bilsteins or spacers, or you can do a 3" body lift.

The advantage of a body lift is that the ride won't change at all. Disadvantage Is that it won't level to the truck, which may not bother you. I have a 1" rake on my truck and I love it because when I put something in the back it's completely level.

so I'm reading something on here that if I get spacers that it can affect the control arm or something? What exactly is happening there? Is the alternative getting shocks like the Bilstein 5100s?

Spacers cause over extension and cause the weak UCA to pop the ball joint out. Many fix this by using 09-12 UCA's, or using the Zone UCA leveling kit. You can also use the Bilstein 5100's but I think Ive read a few members having the balljoint pop with thise as well.
