hey guys. 2014 ram 1500 4x4 hemi. Has 35x12.5x20” tires and aftermarket rims. Not sure of back spacing. I have a fabfours front bumper. Currently no rubbing at all. I believe I have zero lift right now. This is how I bought the truck

I have about 2k to spend. I would like around 4-6 inches of lift. Was leaning toward the Rough country 4 or 6.

I will be installing this by myself in the driveway. My concerns are that I drive this truck to work Monday-Friday. I can start the disassembly on a Friday evening after work. Realistically when will this be completed and will I need anything other than what’s in the lift kit? I know I’ll need an alignment which is sort of a problem as a shop won’t be open on Sunday to get it done. I assume atleast all day Saturday and part of Sunday to have the lift completely installed.

if you guys had 2k to spend on lifting your truck what would you do and what are your thoughts on doing it yourself, anything extra needed, etc...?

Picture is how she sits currently

Buy a 6” kit! If you only want 4” or so just leave out the strut spacer that goes in the coil assembly (not the one on top).

The reason I say go 6” is you’ll get the rear control arm relocation backets whereas some 4” kit don’t provide these. And you can easily move up to 6” down the road when you think the 35’s look small and 37’s seem like a great idea. And believe me, if the rear geometry is cared for properly, your truck will ride WAY BETTER!

Logic= most 4” kits are 4” front, 3”rear

Most 6” kits are 6” front, 3” rear with the option to go 5”. But the 6” kit will have the nice rear brackets and such that keep the axle and control arms where they should be.

If you utilize your garage, I believe a 4” lift on 35’s will allow you to squeeze into a standard garage. I may be wrong, but I recall other people posting about it.

Your are correct sir, my truck still fits in the garage (excuse the mess, that was taken over the Christmas holiday).

I have thought about being able to fit into covered parking structures and things of that sort. I’ve also though about just keeping things simple going going with bilsteins at 2.8 with mevotechs in the front and new bilstein for the rest and calling it a day.

You guys think I should go for the 6”??

How’s the install of that kit? Anyone have personal experience?

My truck still fits in the parking decks in downtown ATL, park in one everyday I have to commute to the office.

If you go full on lift, get a 6” kit but run it at 4” if you want to fit in garages and whatnot. My 4” kit is essentially the same as a 6”, just not using the additional spacer up front to achieve 6”. Looked up both kits and 99.9% of the part #’s are the same.

This is exactly what I did with the addition of a 1.5” spacer in the rear, and kept oem size 33” A/T’s. I love my setup.

Just my opinion, I think 4” looks best with 35’s, and 6” looks wicked nice on 37’s.

Yes, 35s with 4" looks badass , If I had gone 4" then 35s would of been the tire of my choice too .. but since I went with a 7" I slapped some 37s ....

Nice! I've often considered making the jump to 4" and 35's, but there's been a couple of parking garages in Northern VA I've barely squeezed into at 2.8/1.5. I definitely need to verify how much clearance next time. It could all just be in my head when I'm looking up through the sunroof, as I'm navigating those garages.

Measure to the top of your satellite fin, and add an inch ... Measure that point on your regular FM antenna ... Take your antenna off, pull the ball off, cut it down to your measured point, put the ball back on with gorilla glue, and put it back on your truck ... Now you have a built in height sensor ... You pull in a parking garage, and that thing moves ... Hit the friggin brakes ... Mine has save me from modifying my roof twice

Don’t get me wrong, my truck JUST FITS. I actually opened up my sunroof the first time or 2 going in to check clearances.........it is a little unnerving to reach up through the sunroof and touch the ceiling!

I also realized that if my factory antenna isn’t hitting anything I have way more than enough height clearance. I use it as my “alarm” for when I’m getting close to running out of room.

My antenna hit the top of my garage door but the shark fin clears by about an inch or so, so as long as the antenna don’t hit when I’m in a unfamiliar parking structure, I know I’m good.

And for those wondering, no, cutting your FM antenna down a couple inches does not affect your reception

I would recommend the Zone 6” Lift kit because you can choose either 3” or 5” rear coil springs to either give you a more level look based on your current rake or a higher front end. You can also choose between their shocks or upgrade to the Fox 2.0 shocks if you choose. I’m going with the Zone 6” lift with 5” rear coil springs, Bilstein front struts set at 2.5” and a 1.5” rear coil spacer to give me about 8.5” of lift and a perfectly level look...

2.1” or 2.8” on the Bilsteins ... No 2.5” setting
