Howdy

I have long driven a 2005 RWD 2500 and recently bought a 2003 Hemi 2500 longbed 2500 4WD with 250K miles but generally well maintained. The 4WD truck has new Michelins. The truck has a very tipsy feeling on our rural roads.....not steering related but a odd rebound sort of side to side response to hitting any bumps in our crap rural roads. The ride is jittery on anything but interstate.

I would appreciate any insight on how to calm the ride.

Check leaf spring bushings, tire pressure may need lowering. Is it lifted ?

In addition to the above, my 1996 2500 benefited GREATLY from Bilstien shocks on all four corners. Swapped them at about 85,000 miles, if I had known how huge the difference was I would have done it brand new.

Many thanks to both. I should have mentioned the truck is not lifted and I run Michelin road tread tires......

Agreed. I ran 35-40 PSI on my old tires and when I got my new ones it rode like hot garbage similar to yours until I dropped them all to 30. May not work, but air is easy.

The tread pattern itself may not be doing you any favors but its hard to say.

Try 1k to 1500 pounds in the bed and see if that helps. If better, it could be the truck acting like a truck. If you still feel things not acting right, then anything from bushings to springs to shocks but don't just start replacing, inspect them all intensely. With that age, any of those could need replacing. Good luck.
