Okay I have 2004 5.7 hemi born and raised 273,000km and of course the motor blew I already have it pulled from the truck and I’m looking for a replacement

Now my question is what year truck or motors will work with my 2004 harness and computers and all that stuff with out having to swap it simple bolt in and plug and play

Now on CL there is a 2008 5.7 hemi front end damage can be seen running for 900$ 180,000km don’t know the vin

And also a 2007 2500 5.7 hemi no reggy no damage already pulled 60,000km for 1000$ don’t kno the vin

My ram the 8th digit on the vin is the letter “D”

Any information helps and what am I looking for thanks

Why did you post your question twice in the same forum?

Any rate, either engine will work. Your 04 can't run MDS so the 08 engine will never activate it. It has EGR so you're good there as well. The 07 2500 engine will not have MDS nor EGR. With that one you'd have to open the port on the cylinder head and intake manifold or use your 04 intake manifold. Any harness plug variations between years can be mitigated by using the sensors for your 04.

Sorry when I first posted I didn’t think it went threw I tried to delete it...

So your saying I can use the 08 plug and play?? The vin number doesn’t matter at all cuz ima bout to go rip it out if that’s the case ahaha

I get what your saying with the 07 but my intake probably has metal and stuff in it so I’m gonna pass on that one

Here’s the ad for the donor truck and pic of the vin I just don’t want to invest loot then it doesn’t fire up , eBay can ship one same truck same year same vin for 1950$ or I can go rip this one out for 900$

If the engine is good, it will work.

Relax lol, they changed the setup in 2006. Swap your valve covers and coils on.

The 06+ coils, also known as 6.1 coils use a different connector then the 04 coils. You can buy the new connectors and solder them to the 04 harness or use an adapter that plugs into the 04 connectors and has the 6.1 connector on the other end. When I changed mine I used salvage yard harness I cut the plugs from and simply soldered them to my 03 harness. There are two wires on each plug. One wire is common color and is the 12v power wire. The other is specific to each plug/coil and is the pcm ignition grounding circuit that fires the individual coils. It is easy to do..

Not really 6.1 coils anymore (that's what we used to call them lol) since it's the same coil from 2006 to now lol

Tells everyone how long ago I did the swapped .. A few years ago I changed the 6.1 coils for SoS coils. How can you not want a coil named Sultan of Spark?

Alright well couple years Later …. I finally swap the motor , and I think my problem now is I put a NON egr motor from a 2004 2500 into my 2004 1500 thinking it would be all plug and play , turns out it at idle great and it actually fires up everytime , but soon as I give it gas it stalls and shakes like a B

i also put new OBX exhaust headers , new EGR, new Coilpacks , new SparkplugWires and spark plugs of course , gasket for intake manifold new alt new battery everything I possibly could replace gotta love being single right….

My only code that comes up is p0032
And the dealership after 600$ Just to scan it and go over it told me my new 02 sensors and wires for the 02 sensors are fine and suggest a tune shop before they do anything else , they also suggest it’s a bad pcm but they want a tune first then if it doesn’t run they want to go over the whole harness and then finally put new pcm $$$$ typical dealer ship taking my money telling me to bring it to another shop what a joke

This is a real pickle now any help would be great

That made no sense. Was EGR written out of the stock tune at any point? If not, that is why you are having problems, assuming you used the 2500 intake manifold and not your 1500 intake manifold.

Ya it’s the 2500 intake , my 1500 intake had metal in it , also the 2500 had a block off plate I removed it and connected a new egr too the motor ,

also nothing been delete from stock tune it’s still the 1500 tune , all I did was try and set the performance to 91 with one of those “flashpaq”
