I just bought a 2005 dodge ram with a 4.7 liter v8
Long story short got tired of my 1999 Chevy after 3 rear ends and 2 transmissions I decided to get a dodge.
Here's my problem when I start the truck it will idle to around 2-3k then slowly go from 2k to 1k then it will jump up a little then go from 1k to about 1/2k before dieing it will start everytime it also dies sometimes when I first put it in drive or when I'm slowing down at a red light and sometimes when I accelerate the engine studders.
The check engine light is on and starts flashing the codes I have are p0016 p0300 p0339 p0645 p0714 and 5

My first step would be check the battery voltage. Seems like most of those codes have little to do with each other, and a low battery voltage will screw with the ECM and cause it to throw random codes. If the voltage is low, then you'll have to determine if the battery is bad or the charging system is bad. If both are good, then I guess you could have multiple problems with the camshaft/crankshaft sensor, the transmission and the air conditioning system and would have to start troubleshooting one code at a time.

I recently had a 4.7 with almost this exact same issue. I would start my diagnostics with a simple battery load test to verify that you have the proper volts and amps. Verify charging system volts/amps as well.

Next, with P0016 DTC set for Camshaft/Crankshaft correlation, disconnect the cam position sensor connector on the right cylinder head. The connector is in the front of the right (passenger) cylinder head and the sensor is mounted vertical.

Disconnect the connector and start the engine and see if it will idle.

Report back with your findings and I can assist you from there.

Well after chasing down code after code problem after problem I just changed the camshaft sensor even though the dodge house said that it wasn't the problem because "it wasn't showing them a code for it" and that it was the crankshaft sensor (that I replaced before taken it to them) the dodge is running great now no problems dieing or idling. I would like to think everyone for their information to try and help a new Dodge owner out I've never been a dodge person but this one is growing on me
