Hello everyone,
I have a challenging issue that is worthy of attention, its quite a puzzler.
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4.7 L Engine (Flex)
I decided to perform a "redneck" induciton cleaning to improve gas mileage, I performed it using Seafoam, quite a lot of smoke, however, I forgot to perfom one final detail (take the truck on a 20-30 test drive immediately after all the smoke cleared, instead, I let it rest after and started driving it like normal.
within a few days, I got a check engine light indicating a misfire on cylinder 2 P0302, as well as P0300 random multiiple misfires along with a very noticeable shimmy and shudder, with lunging, lurching & dieing when there is new gas in the tank
I've performed the following:
1) new plugs
2) swapped ignition cables (stays on cylinder 2)
3) swapped coil packs (stays on cylinder 2)
4) replaced the cylinder 2 fuel injector (misfire persists)
5) There is now an oil buildup on the AC hose that runs above the fan and goes to the condenser
6) I decided to try the induction cleaning again, so I performed a 2nd induction and this time took it for the test drive (3000-4000 RPMS) (Misfire persists)
7) I decided to check the PCV, made the following troubleshooting and discoveries...
a) the breather valve on the passenger side has little to no suction
b) the breacher valve on the driver side has very noticable suction
c) the PCV hose and valve on the driver side are clear of any obstruction
8) it appears that the carbon / sludge is deeper within the manifold or possibly within the engine
I did perform an oil change and I used liqui-moly engine flush prior to the oil change, I let it run until the the engine was running smooth, however the cylinder 2 mifire persisted after the flush/oil change
I replaced the valve cover gaskets today and checked the baffles for any sludge/obstruction - both were clean
I checked the PCV valve and hose on the driver side, both are clear
What should I do next?
1) try another engine flush
2) removed the manifold and clean it?
or
3) is this something that needs to be addressed by tearing down the engine and going deeper?
I appreciate any feedback
Thank you in advance
Certainly is a head scratcher
