So I recently developed a gas smell in the truck. I looked underneath and fuel is dripping fairly heavily out of the fuel line under the driver side footwell area. There is a connection that is leaking.

My question is do I replace the side leading to the engine or leading to the tank? Is it easier to just cut this crap off and put a section of fuel hose in there? Is this some kind of quick connection?
It looks like a braided Line that goes to the engine

First thing is to figure out which side is leaking, then replace the side that's got the actual leak

Yeah it looks like it’s coming from the connection point but it’s hard to tell. It has to be running for it to leak. I’ll take another look, thanks!

It should leak when the key is cycled on,as the fuel pump kicks in when the key is on.Have somebody cycle the ignition to "Run" with out starting it ,while you lay under it and watch for the leak.

Okay it’s definitely the half heading to the engine. I see a rotted spot and I think it’s dribbling down the line and making it look like to connector.

Do you have a service manual that shows a part number for that piece. I’m not sure what to look for.

I think the side with the red clip is okay. It’s the other side that is leaking and dripping all over both lines.

Here is a short video but I could get a good angle without getting gas all over me.

Damn it's definitely leaking.Let it sit ,till it quits dripping, then have somebody cycle the key to run while you watch it,you might have a better chance of seeing where it's leaking from, then if the trucks running.By the time you start it,and get back under it,it'll have fuel everywhere and it'll be tough to pinpoint the leak, you're better off watching it while the key is cycled to run, with out starting the truck.Once you pinpoint the line that's leaking hit up Benny at all mopar parts on here, and see if the line is still available

So I needed to get this fixed and it’s a $3000 dollar work truck so I got some 300psi 5/16 fuel hose and double clamped it. Seems to work fine. It’s only about 8” section where there was a braided flex line.

The metal fuel line rotted out right where the manufacturer wraps a sticker label around the line. The sticker probably holds moisture and rots the line out. Plus I live in the salt belt.

Here is some pics of the repair.

Thanks, I’ll probably throw a piece of heat wrap around it since the exhaust runs near it but otherwise it works!

I called a few local dealers and no one had that section of line in stock so this was my only option at the moment. I’ll keep an eye but so far it’s dry no leaks!

That fix will probably outlast the truck if you're in the rustbelt :waytogo: It looks good, and if you used hose rated for 300 psi,it'll last a long time,i've definitely seen worse fuel line repairs

My GM oil cooler hoses always weep at the crimps. I do what you did, I carefully cut the aluminum crimp off and replace with a section of oil rated hose and double clamp. With the oil rated hose, it shrinks and hardens over time and need to be checked and snugged at every oil change.
