Hello to all. I am new to the forum but I am not new to turning wrenches. I was an automotive tech for about a decade before joining the Army as a 88L (watercraft engineer). As a happy byproduct of my service, I have been blessed with a very messed up spine. (Not looking for sympathy so please don't give any). I say this to make it known why I don't just tear into my project before doing as much research as possible to save myself some back pain. Anyways... on to the topic...
I have a 2012 1500 Big Horn 4x4. I recently purchased a 2011 1500 Laramie 4x4 as a donor truck. My goal is to convert my 2012 into a Laramie. One of the first things on my list was to swap in the rear view camera. I got the camera off of the 2011 donor and the short wire harness from the camera to the body harness. I have done some research and am aware that some harnesses dont have all the connections required for a full Laramie conversion. I checked my 2012 and found that my body harness lacks the camera connection. Before I go any further I want to be prepared for what is needed. I plan to pull the body harness from the donor and swap it into my 2012. I also plan on switching the dashes and the dash wire harness and hvac box to accommodate for duel zone climate control. What I need to know is... has anyone done this already and what all is involved? Will i need to repin a connector? Which harnesses should I be planning on swapping to do the full conversion? What modules need to be swapped? What programming needs to take place (i have alphaobd and diablo). Is there a question that I should be asking? The more information I can get, the easier it will be on my back (hopefully). Thank you to all in advance.
