Welp truck needs lifters RIP guess its expected at 188k so now my question is whats difference between MDS and NON mds lifters? i can only seam to find NON MDS when looking up lifters? and how do i tell if my truck has mds i haven't had the chance to drive it yet dut to its issues so i have no idea if it does.

Even with this issue, I think your still way ahead resale wise.

Well was the cam bad too? If it wasn't I would be surprised since the two problems kind of go together.

yes the cam was shot have a few other threads on here about it and a vid of the noise truck still makes.

Ok good well at least you got everything taken care of. If I were you on that second oil change I would go ahead and switch over to redline 5W-30 like all the rest of us. It’s semi-cheap insurance that this problem wont happen again. Good luck!

Tune that mds garbage out of your truck imo.

believe it or not i dont know what everyone is complaining about i barely feel mds kick in had it up to 60 u feel little vibration nothing enough to bother me local driving i cant even feel when mds kicks in so when i go on parkway il just put it in 5 and mds doesnt come on.

MDS closes off 4 cylinders instead of running 8, and sends more gas to those 4 cylinders that are hot, lol. Just another weak thing that can break, I want all of 8 cylinders operating in all their glory.

yes, it keeps you in higher rpm's, always good imo.

I have used it every time I drove the truck since 2011.
