I am attempting to replace my head unit after the origional 8 pin connection has been cut out. (Yes it was me, and last time I changed a head unit was in thr 90's on an 85 Sunbird). My questions are 1) is there a way to wire the new connection directly to the present wiring? 2) if i were to find an OEM 8 pin connecter, could THAT go into the existing wiring. 3) or am I SOL and have to replace the whole harness?

If you can find the plug you could wire it back together. You need a good solid soldering job with shrink wrap. Then tape it all up. Going to be difficult with wires in dash.
