My brother-in-law wrecked his pickup and broke LH mirror I ordered him a new one from dealer and realized when I opened box that is was not a tow mirror . Found out that he had replaced non tow with aftermarket tow mirrors. Got on eBay and found part number of OEM tow mirror and ordered that number from dealer oem . Mean while bothering law put his old non tow mirror on until I could get new OEM tow mirror in . I got new. tow mirror from dealer and install. Now he says that new mirror is not changing correct when he tries to adjust it . When he tilts it upright position controls are off . Up and down are side to side . The Right side works fine when you tilt it . Is there a polarity reverse built in to mirror or is it in control box. Where mirror plugs in to ? Do you think when he plugged old mirror in that it changed Something in computer ? Or we just got a bad mirror and polarity reverse is bad ?

Never dealt with removing these mirrors, but is it even possible to plug it in other then one way?

It sounds like when he plugged in the non-tow mirror, the computer reset itself to not having a tow mirror. Does the RH mirror function properly? Just a guess, but you might try using AlphaOBD to disable and then re-enable the the tow mirrors in the body computer.

Westex, I read somewhere that there is a switch of some sort in the mirror that controls functions when flipped up to keep things working as they should.
