I agree with G.i don't think you know what you're doing,as there's "no" oil cooler under the intake. You're 14 doesn't have any oil cooler on the engine. The only things under the intake on a 5.7 are the MDS solenoids and the VVT solenoid.I am trying to remove my intake to replace the engine oil cooler, I don't know what the tube is going across it or how to remove it. Any help would be apprecieated.
Thanks,
My truck ran hot, and now i have this brown sludge in the coolant.
My truck ran hot, and now i have this brown sludge in the coolant. Oil on the dip stick is fine. no steam or white smoke coming from the exhaust no rough idle & No i don't know what i am doing but i don't have the kind of funds that I've seen online for mechanic repairs so i gotta learn.
How hot? Water pump give out the smoke? How many miles on that engine?
I would pull the thermostat and run the garden hose through the block and radiator to get all of that nasty stuff out of the cooling system.
Fill it back up with distilled water and coolant and see if that brown sludge comes back.
If it does, you probably smoked a head gasket. So you'll need to pull the heads and send em to the machine shop to have everything checked and planed.

My radiator busted, temp gauge pegged out light came on i shut it down as fast as i could. Ive already got the radiator out 253+ miles View attachment 574719

If you don't see coolant in the first several drops, you can continue watching the rip for a minute or so, but you should see coolant very quickly if it's in the crankcase. Thanks guys, I really appreciate all of the help! I"m going to do the drip test in a few minutes, I'm hungry!
Just a heads up if you're buying anti-freeze,your truck takes "OAT" antifreeze,do not mix it with any other versions of antifreeze otherwise you'll just compound your troubles. There's some good advice posted follow it,hopefully you'll get lucky ,but don't hold your breath. If you do end up pulling the heads to have them resurfaced, that's a good time to pull the lifters and check them and the cam over for wearMy radiator busted, temp gauge pegged out light came on i shut it down as fast as i could. I mean this in the nicest way possible, you are in way over your head man. You need to take this poor truck to a shop before you damage it beyond repair.Ive never heard of the "OAT" antifreeze, it just been water, or what ever never nothing specific (shame on me). I have tried to crack the oil pan plug, i tried with a 13mm socket but it after a lot of force it slipped off slightly stripping the head. I sprayed it with PB blaster & let it sit overnight Should i try a 12mm socket or vice grips?
Are you using a 6 point or 12 point socket, you always want to use a 6 point socket on a drain plugIve never heard of the "OAT" antifreeze, it just been water, or what ever never nothing specific (shame on me).
