I have a 2013 QC sport and just so happen to have made the same 335 mile trip in the same direction on the same roadways about a week apart. The only difference is on the second trip my truck had the Vararam intake installed. The first trip the temp was 5-10 degrees cooler with bit of a headwind but overall the conditions were close. The first trip i had the a/c off for the first 70 miles then on the remainder. Second trip a/c on the entire trip. I set my cruise to 78 but vary that for local roads/construction etc.

First trip:
339.4 miles
17.2 m.p.g.
Average speed 66
Trip time 5:08

Second trip:
345.1 miles
18.6 m.p.g.
Avg speed 63
Trip time 5:27

So, there's my unscientific report on mileage. Good luck, your mileage may vary.

AC on and better mileage. That's never a bad sign.
Though Mythbuster's proved windows down no AC yielded worse MPG than up and AC on.

In the city I'm averaging 16.5 mpg that was a lot of short trips, idling, traffic to work and back, last time I did a long trip I got 23mpg

I feel like once you push the truck thru 70 mph it's a battle for mpg. If I ran it around 60 on the highway 20+ would be pretty easy. I don't have the patience for 60. :)

You sound like me. When I hit the open highway, I feel like I am going too slow if I am cruising at 80mph...haha.

When I got 23 mpg I was averaging 70-75 mph on I10 and it was thunderstormimg and I didn't have the vararam at the time

Couldn't agree more about the above 70 mph comment. Wierd that highway mileage wouldn't be calculated at 70. But yeah the 60 mph range is unbelieveable mileage.

I try to stay around 65, for mileage sake. The second i hit 70 it starts plummeting.

I agree, sucks.. if i'm going 80 or less i feel like i'm parked. But the difference in mpg is too great to ignore. There's always on-ramp's and passing for the fun? ha.

Good info, thanks for sharing. I also noticed about a 1.5-2.0 mpg difference once I installed my VR.

Not to bump an old post, but I wanted to add that I've noticed an increase in MPG after adding a Vararam on my 14 as well. I wasn't expecting an increase, so i didn't set up any test to verify. However, my extremely anecdotal evidence is that the MPG average on my cluster has been climbing, about .5mpg now, and I've been hard as hell on the truck to enjoy the intake which is rough on the ole mileage anyway :)

This has been all city driving. I would expect highway to be even better if the mpg increase is real.

Thanks Matt!

So far, with the mods done to my truck (in sig), my truck is much quicker (almost 2 sec 0-60) and stock, I was getting 19-20 mpgs at 75 mph on my trips tp TX. Last time I went down there, at 90 mph, I averaged 23.7 mpg! With mods, I can run 90 now with little to no pressure on the throttle and no downshifting on slight uphill grades. I love my Vararam! May port and polish my TB this weekend to try to sqeeze a bit more out of it with the extra airflow. After that, cutting springs down to get more aerodynamic.

I did a road trip last summer where traffic never let me get above 60 mph, but never really slowed either. I recorded over 20 MPG. So even a 6 speed RAM can get good mileage if you keep your foot out of the skinny pedal.
