2013 Vararam question

I've seen a few pics and the install book online shows tubs going to the front bumper for a ram air effect, but in other pics it looks like an open filter on top and air come in from the front grill. Which one is the correct one for the 2013 models? I have a sport model and I don't really want to take out any grills or cut holes in my bumper for any ports. If it's the second one that is the open filter on top that would be better. And how is it in the rain? Any water gets sucked into it?

Sorry for all the questions. Truck is only 1 day old, but I love fixing up vehicles. LOL!

The 02-08 model of the Vararam (Under Glass Model) uses tubes coming down from the sides to bring air in from the lower cutout of the bumper. The 09+ model sits on top of the TB and takes in air from the grille while sealing with the hood.

Ah, cool. So no tubes to go through. Just straight air through the filter to the throttle body. Good to know. Thanks a lot! No worries on water getting into the engine?

Theres a couple guys on here who go mudding with it pretty frequently and no problems there. If you're just using it for everyday street/track use there is definitely not gonna be a problem with water.

Like said, the 4th gen version just site on top of the motor. Vararam has also just made a few revisions to the 2013 kit to make it sit flush with the hood, so you are good to go there.

So new part number for the 2013's or did they just modify the existing part?

They include a longer lower coupler and a new front wing for the 2013's. There is not a new part#, but we will be adding a drop box option on the site today that will allow you to select that you have a 2013...this way we make sure to ship the correct kit out for you.

So is this new wing different then one you would have shipped a month ago? I have a 2013 and it seems like it might be a little restrictive. I'd like to buy the new part if it's better.

If you purchased a Vararam kit for a 2013 before last week, then give the guys a Vararam a call, and they will send you the revised parts to ensure that your kit fits and works properly. As of last week, they only had a few spare wings, but they were working on making more when I left their shop.

13s fit mostly the same just longer coupler like matt said as well was cut out on shroud for cooler lines, definitely going to enjoy your shopping cart!
