Greetings Gents and happy Tuesday from Windy City, Chi Town.

On a newly acquired 2014 pickup truck I’ve viewed several threads on back up camera issues yet thought to inquire prior to heading to Dodge dealer to inquire on new wiring harness cost to the back up camera not operating as it should. Same type issues…

Wires seem to have been cut, altered in rear hatch, perhaps previous owner tried to repair the problem. Thinking I might soder it and see if that takes otherwise not sure how to trouble shoot problem ?? Any suggestions advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. PeterB

FYI - inspected it further earlier today and it appears the cut to be in the harness of diagram one the camera part of it near the harness portion that plugs in to the rest of it. Parts counter guy suggested soldering it and see if that makes a good connection if not that part from the dealer is pretty expensive @ $327...

I get that some forums are better than others, case in point corvette forum is galaxies ahead of others as enthusiast are quick to jump in and try and help fellow Vet owners.

Other Forums I've had vehicles for have been decent as well. No experience on this Forum so far still waiting on a response to my back up camera issues...

Interesting … quick week observation by a newbie.

nobody seems to care or knows anything about this, it’s like writing to myself ?? Other than having the girly bikini avatar immediately rejected, thread merged from no response in electronics forum, nobody cares to post or try to help. Knowledgeable moderators included ??

I’ll try other Dodge forums. I may have selected less active one to post here. Good day

I certainly would be happy to help or offer advice but electronics in our trucks or anything really beyond me.
Two days is not a long time, to give up on this or any forum, there are many helpful & knowledgeable members here who have helped me many times with multiple repairs/upgrades.
I imagine you have used the search function here, as most issues have been asked & answered many times, just to get you started.
I browse this forum almost every day with my morning coffee, but I could see some members probably just check in every couple of days.
Good luck with your repair, I would give it a little more time, before moving on.

I would suggest replacing the cable, as it has obviously been abused or bubba'd. I would also look at replacing the camera. Mine went BSoD and it was water inside the camera. Not uncommon.

PS: Getting all huffy and trying to shame members usually has a negative effect of what you desire.

Thank you Adam. I appreciate your post response. Good day

Likewise 04FX… thanks for posting.
Tripod in replacement with labor prob looking at Gnote, I’ll do without.

PS: Huffy, shame members? I apologize but I don’t see where I made any of those statements. I simply stated the obvious in my weeks observation.

Go Bears !!

Thank you for posting Daw.

I’m not sure why anyone would that doesn’t have anything positive, helpful to contribute.

Question would be, what motivated you to post now then??

Good evening-

I did end up purchasing a new gas cap at dealer since it was reading check engine gas cap light on as well. Vehicle has been idle, sitting for 6 months prior to my purchase of it. Added fuel and a can of Sea foam…

I had the initial check engine code itself cleared, was fine for about a week or so and came back on yesterday. Had it read and cleared again this morning. Ran it on EWay for around 60 miles today to the Cabellas and back. Topped of fuel with premium fresh fuel almost $hondo and nothing yet. Not sure if a sensors failing or not?

Your thoughts appreciated. Thank you

I’m pretty sure all the emissions systems issues show the gas cap fault, I replaced my cap to fix mine.
Then got a esim?, small part that sits on top of the gas tank, when I went to replace it i found one of the hoses unplugged.
I plugged it back & fixed the code, spent around 50$ for the cap & part, kept it figuring if I have it will probably never need it.
