Dodge Magnun R/T 5.7 Hemi - the check engine light would go on and off with no particular behavior or timing. Replaced the gas cap, took it to 2 different excellent shops. They couldn't find anything. Replaced the battery original to the car! Problem went away. Just a thought.

Good morning -
My buddy Joe suggested a purge valve like so was what was causing his evap, I sent Sonia to go get a pic of what a surge valve looks like, guess that’s one of several in the 1500 5.7

Purge valve, There is one usually in the engine bay on the passenger side.

The EISM is on top of the fuel tank, kinda of a bear to get to but possible with your arm fully extended as @Adamcr68 indicated. The EISM is a twist to mount deal.

You could also look at your fuel filler lip. I run some sandpaper around mine every year to knock off anything then Vaseline the lip on the fuel cap. Seems to be an easy fix

Thank you Bigsky. I appreciate you chiming in and your explanation on what’s what with this pesky evap check engine light. Sucker came back on this afternoon again

Joe Storts and his smoking stogey let me borrow his smoke machine yesterday and while I’m not knowledgeable on exactly how to plug it in to the engine and smoke it, he included the bottle baby oil to add into it. I’ll try and watch some Utube’s on it and maybe figure that out. If anyone here can detail exactly how to connect it to an 1500 5.7 I would be grateful if you could post on it.

I also mentioned to Sonia as relates to the Vaselining the gas spout rim and she mentioned she’d care for that as she did lubricanting the cap shaft sometime back

Still trying to figure out what’s doing with that rear cam, haven’t gotten to far on that issue

I did get a lead on a guy that knows how to fix those from his home garage, so at least I may be able to same a few bucks there as the dealership is really expensive. Estimate was 3 hrs labor and parts which were a slightly over a tripod ($327). Still waiting on his contact info

I did PM’d that gentleman a week ago one of the guys posted on this thread but no response to date ‍♂️

Op you might take a look at this,

Seems the harness and camera are relatively cheap, compared to other ram problems

Bigs, do you have a roadglide scooter bud? Over the years I’ve owned a few, past couple and current Ultra Classic, full dresser..

Yup I’ve seen that one. Problem on my end there no push plugs, switches like he’s referring to on Utube to push together making sure their clipped and tight. I got loose wires and where your statement that it’s cheaper than most other jobs, dealer wants an over $3 hondos by me for parts alone, 3 hrs labor estimated by service writer. Pricey! I was contemplating checking out a junk yard seeing if there’s anything available there, camera clip wise.

Good news on the check engines codes PO440 PO441 - get this …

Rodent, Rat, raccoon or some type varmit ate hose away near fuel tank that was causing the evap code or at least I’m hoping that was it. We’ll see over text few days if it’s fixed or not.

Check that pic out …

Hopefully it’s fixed now. If so Hooray! One for the good guys.

Cheers to all posting to help me out.

Now onto the back up camera repair.

Yup I've got a few.

I built the blue ones, bought the skunk and the black one was an exchange for a favor

SWEET! Congrats!

Hard to decide which one of those beauties you’d like to take for a spin.

White one, 147ft lbs of torque, 25 mpg, it's wicked fast,

blue road glide started life as a road king, it's got over 200k on it. I've built it 4 times. It is my bike, im the only person that rides it. O7 SE Road King swing arm, fender, tombstone tail light, 170 rear tire. 12 front end, all wiring fits factory specs. Its a 95 ci, trued and balanced crank, shocks built for my weight and height.

Blue batwing, got sold about 6 months ago, too many bikes.

Black one is currently on the table it's my daily. Getting stripped down for winter make over.

I have so many road glide parts, I could build a bike from my spares. Got a complete engine, a frame and 3 sets of tins.

It's a sickness. I ride 25k miles a year.

Understood.

Corvette forums much more entertaining fun, enjoyable, to post on.

Trucks new to me. Either way it’s not my home forum just searching for help with my ongoing camera issues and I’ll be done here. Thanks again Bigs
