Hey guys, thanks for the add. I have a 2014 2500 Laramie 6.7L. I have owned this truck for almost two years. It has been in to the dealer a few times since with warranty work and a coolant leak from the y pipe or connecting hose. I am still smelling coolant from the front passenger side of the motor. But I do not see any leaks. Any body have any thoughts on this? Another strange thing has started happening as well. Under no load when driving the motor gets loud like a train horn almost. Boost seems fine just have never heard it before. I wanted to get some feed back before I take it to the dealer I bought it from.
Thanks in advance.

Does it smell all the time or just occasionally? You sure it is not regening? That smell would be more noticeable on the passenger side.
Not sure about the noise?

Wild guess, water pump problem? Weep hole leaking? I say wild guess because I never replaced a water pump on a Hemi. I'm assuming it's similar to my wife's old Trailblazer or my old '01 Ram.

Edit:
I just noticed you got a Cummins not a Hemi but it still might be similar.

Has the radiator cap been replaced? My V6 had a bit of a coolant smell in the same area when it was hot and I put a new cap on and that pretty much solved it. They don't last forever.

Hi @EliasMatias - If this is something you continue to address with your dealer, please be sure to follow up with us via PM to let us know. We would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for an additional layer of support while in service.

It only smells when it has been running for a while. Water pump has been replaced by dealer.

I have the same truck. My truck has smelled like antifreeze ever since I replaced my plastic Y pipe rad hoses with the mishimoto molded hoses. I’ve snugged up all my hose clamps and I still get the faint smell in the front of the truck. Although it seems to have gotten better after snugging them up. I’m going on 10,000 miles with the smell, pulling an 11,000 pound Travel Trailer for most of the miles. I don’t lose any antifreeze so I’ve just stopped worrying about it and learned to live with it.

The train horn sounds to me like it would be a boost leak but maybe a bearing in one of the belt driven accessories going bad. I’ve replaced lots of water pumps in the 6.7 and haven’t seen any make weird noises. Usually you have some free play in the pulley or they just let loose and dump antifreeze everywhere.

Coolant Smell
After looking for days I found the radiator to be the problem. 5 days to get a new one under warranty.
Standing facing the radiator I removed the panel push retainer with my right hand and pulled the top cover back in order to get a better look. On the driver side corner the radiator was wet. Their was never a wet spot on the ground or wet anywhere else.
This is my first post, I hope that it may help others. With all the noise about the water pump I really figured it to be the problem, but not so in my case. IMG_1741.jpg
