2014 Alpine System Dash Spkr Question

I have the 8.4 Alpine system (9 spkr) and it's my understanding that the three dash speakers are wired such that if I remove the center unit, the other two won't work.

True?

If so, what needs to be done to make the outside units work while the center is no longer there?

Not true. For weeks I ran just the 2 outside aftermarket dash speakers.

Then I decided I needed more volume so ended up installing a center. But all 3 speakers will work individually.

Do you have the Alpine system?

Is the dash prewired for a 3rd dash speaker if you have the base non alpine system? in other words will a 3rd speaker drop in and play on a base system?
