Hi there. I'm new here and just bought my first Ram. 1500 Laramie low k's with the Alpine Sound system. So, I'm a car audio nut and actually used to install and repair car audio. I used to install professionally back in the day and still repair car audio amplifier in my spare time...

So, i will be replacing the 8.4 headunit with a Pioneer W4500NEX using the idatalink maestro RAM1 kit and MRR module. I will be using the chime speaker as well so could I bypass the Alpine amp and use my personal amps using the new headunit RCA's for signal? The idatalink retains most of the factory features.

So would this work or would I need another option to bypass the factory amplifier. Technically, i really just want to bypass the factory front door speakers, dash tweeters and sub. I can retain the factory amp to run the center dash speaker and rear door and headliner speakers. I plan on replacing the front doors and dash tweeters and run them off my personal amp. The Sub will be replaced with a custom box with 10" sub and would be running off another personal amp. I can just use the new HU front and sub RCAs and leave the maestro control the factory amp for the rear and center factory speakers.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks.

my advice leave it factory and add the subs if you dont have any under rear seat , you might end up creating more problems with the system and wiring , computers etc.

Not concerned with causing problems. The RAM1 kit has been out and proven for awhile now and works to replace the factory headunit. Having said that, its more the factory amp bypass i'm concerned with. Yes, I have the factory alpine 8" sub under the rear passenger seat. Hence my questions and was hoping someone on the forum has either done this or knows.

For simplicity, I would completely bypass the Alpine system and run output from your new headunit.

Thats what i was hoping too. But are is there any signals that are going to the factory alpine amp directed? Chimes or anything? Or once it goes through the maestro RR, it will just go through the headunit. I am adding the SP1 (speaker for chimes) to the Maestro RR so I goes it will play them through the chime speaker, and not through the truck speakers. I think I'll give it a go.

My intent is to cut the output speaker (at the amp) to feed the the speakers.

Sorry, I can't help more on the Alpine system as I don't have it. I'm thinking that you will completely abandon the Alpine system and re-wire every speaker to amps and use outputs from the headunit for audio.

I think that because I'm using the maestro module and using the RCA signal not the factory amp signal, it should work. As well keeping the factory amp in the 'circuit' should also keep the truck happy as well. I'll give it a go and keep the forum and update
