My 2014 Ram 3.6 coolant temperature has been normal it's entire life. The gage needle never went past the half way point. Today after a 30 mile trip I saw the needle go past the half way point (235 on the digital gage) as I pulled into my driveway. As the engine idled in park I watched the gage needle move rather quickly from the half way point to past the half way then back again a few times. Really strange and I've never seen this before. The coolant was flushed and refilled by the dealer about 6 months ago. Does anyone have a clue as to what might be happening here? I would really appreciate any input.

Thermostat may be going bad , or possibly the sensor is not functioning properly.

Check your coolant level once it cools off.

I have a co-worker with a '19 Classic V6. Came to me yesterday, said her temp hit 230°. I checked her radiator, it was down. I brought some OAT coolant I had leftover, and topped her up. She was down about 1-1/2 qts.+.

I said my '15 hemi did similar, and I found a cracked radiator below the top hose along a mold seam. Sure as sh*t, hers was leaking same spot. Only 70k on her truck.

About the 5th or 6th one I've heard of leaking in the same spot.

She's at the dealer as we speak.

Post back what you find. Good luck.
