So I've been doing some talking to people who know more than I. Actually it was Russell Drake. I know there is information on this forum for swapping the 8 speed into at least a 2013 or earlier. However after 2014 the 8 speed was a factory option. So I was told that since my ram is a 2015 that the option for an 8 speed is in the BCM. Russell suggested that since the BCM can now be reprogrammed cheaply and easily, that I could swap shifter and wiring for an 8 speed into my 65rfe equipped vehicle. Then reprogram the BCM to accept the new transmission. Just looking for more info on this if anyone has it. Otherwise I'm just going to have to fly blind. I can get a low mileage 8 speed for around the same price as a new 6 speed. So I don't really need the "buy a new truck" brigade here. I could use something to reprogram the BCM anyway. I would like to install and enable other factory options. Any help with the transmission swap would be greatly appreciated. Though my 65RFE only has 41K miles on it. I can spend some time learning from this thread.

New trans crossmember will be needed. New driveshaft as well. Are you 2wd or 4wd? Not sure if anyone has made a drop in crossmember yet for these trucks for the 6spd to 8spd swap. You will need an unlocked pcm and it will need the code for the 8spd. Not sure what’s involved in that but a tuner using hp tuners is most likely your best choice for that since HP tuners is more involved with fine details than Diablo.

I’m in the same boat and would actually be interested in this info as well. Hoping to swap my 2014 to 8 speed

I'm still learning, but pretty sure it is 2014 and on. The 8 speed was a factory option. So all the programming exists in the truck.

From my knowledge the 8 speed was available late in 13 as a 2014 model. I rushed to get a 6 speed at the time, I could kick myself. So happy people are looking into these swaps and they are becoming more do-able

The other option I have explored is Monster Transmission. They build up 68RFE transmissions and that is on their website. So I called and asked if they could do the same to the 65RFE and they said yes.

I'm not going for a drop or anything but I don't want to add any significant power until I sort the transmission out. Once I do that I am planning on going all out. That being said does anyone know how this effects the value of the vehicle? Like its not factory, but its not aftermarket either. Wouldn't it technically be a restomod?

That'll be good.I know when you push the "drag" button on the wifes 1320,the transmission has a total personality change, lol. It ups the shift points to 6300 and it shifts damn near as hard as my trucks tuned 8speed does, unlatch the drag button and it shifts like any other scatpack does

So I may or may not have had a 3 hour conversation with russell drake last night. So that may or may not be why he posted about the 8 speeds :D:D:D You're welcome guys!

I don't know if he's working on the post 13 rams or not, but I definitely mentioned that I would like the paddle shifters. As it stands you HAVE to use the dial shifter for the swap
