New here. Looking at 2 different trucks. One is a 2017 3500 cab and chassis truck with 114k miles

The other is a 2018 4500 with 165k miles on it.

The 2018 is bone stock. The 2017 has been deleted and has a 75hp tune.

The 2018 is $5k cheaper. Both trucks are comparable in condition. It really just boils down to pros and cons of each. I’ve never owned a dodge. My previous truck was an 07 f550.

I will be using the truck primarily to tow a 38ft gooseneck loaded down maybe around 25,000 lbs. also will be pulling a 15k lb fifth wheel camper. Any help in deciding would be appreciated

I agree with avoiding any truck that has had tuning done. They did that for a reason and probably overworked it.

I like bone stock, less to go wrong but it is at 168k after 5 years. Your trailering a lot of weight but don't say how often or what cargo is but even with a diesel you are getting to the point of things needing repair/replacement/overhaul.

No idea of the cost for either but I see a bunch of 4500s used for under $60k and cheaper with under 70k miles. In the end, your finances and use dictate what you get, but neither option you listed seems a smart bet.
