2018 Ram tailgate

Over the years tailgates on trucks have been easy to lift and close. Mine operates like an old school heavy tailgate where you have to slam to close.

Are there aftermarket options for the tailgates for easier lifting and closing??

Yeah I know some of you say I need to man up, Hahahaha

The deezee tailgate assist that you see everyone talk about (the little piston) is for soft opening only. Doesn't help you close it. If you want easier closing you could do something like this:

The 4th Gen tailgates are very light compared to 3rd.

The lightest tailgate I’ve felt is the Ford.

The tailgate assist will help lower but lifting it will creat more resistance. Although it’s not very much.

that's what i've thought. hell, i think my 2003 tacoma tailgate had more weight than the 2018 rams. for sure lighter than my old 73 chev pickup!
