So apparently RAM changed their drag link for 2019. Will that fit in my 2017? I see it is similar to a Synergy link now. I just want to replace this stock thing, and since I don't want that C.S. welding fix, I am going to just do something myself. If the newer style 2019 fits, why not? If it does not fit, I guess I will go with the Synergy.

Do you have the part number? Just being lazy...Ok, actually not. I just looked through the internet world and found not a listing. Plenty of aftermarket, but not an OEM link or part number.

As cheap as that part is...our cost, (FCAs is probably 50% of that) it's really sad the recall is not replacing the defective drag link with this part right upfront.

The damage this has done to their reputation in my eyes is far more costly.

Works like a charm, if you do the install yourself invest in a Pittman arm puller927168e1d89a11defa3bbcd2c6040574.jpg96cc41906073568ca4cc984a978bdca5.jpg

why remove the pittman arm?
You don't, but you have to remove the drag link from the Pittman arm. The Pittman arm puller has a larger throat opening to get around the Pittman arm. I only had a smaller rod end puller and had to grind away the inside of it to get it on the Pittman arm to press out the drag link9955583b122b985434c8c2f1971ebd37.jpg

There have been some guys that had a hell of a time getting these off even with a puller. Mine popped fairly easily but I had a 1/2" breaker bar on it. Good luck...

Mike keys video is pretty comical on getting his off...lol

What did you guys do to center your steering wheel after the install?

How do you make that adjustment with the revised drag link?

Thanks

Loosen the clamping bolt(red arrow) turn the adjuster sleeve (blue arrow)cw or ccw in small 1/8 turn increments to get your wheel straight. Torque the clamp bolt (55ftlbs I believe) and test drive to check the alignment. Repeat as necessary.dde66a15f00fd5d35bd720f4e498375e.jpg

Excellent! Thanks sir.

For the link replacement itself, I assume just measure the old link from center of ball stud to center of ball stud and set the new one the same measurement?

I did that and match marked my Pittman arm position prior to removing the old link and used that as well as a get me close guide
