Hey all, was told to post in 4th gen since it’s a Classic.. just wondering if there is a “break in” period for the motor and trans in these trucks. Mines getting “worse then normal” fuel mileage with only 400km on it.. the truck won’t “coast” for the life of it even down hills.. it’s my first Hemi 4x4 with an 8 speed trans.. not sure if this is Norma or not! Thanks in advance!

Drive the truck like normal, don't baby it as the transmission is learning how you drive. Don't be afraid to open the engine up either, your not going to hurt it getting the rpms up into the 5K range once in a while.
I wouldn't start worrying about fuel economy break in till closer to 10K KM.

In my owners manual it actually recommends taking the motor to high rpm’s during the break in period

3,000 miles on mine, I baby it, no quick starts, just easy going, getting about 21 mpg.

I think the way the transmission behaves, if you are off the gas trying to coast it assumes you are going to stop and it slows the truck down some. That's how mine behaves. At first it felt a little weird, but I actually prefer it. I don't have to use the brakes as much.

Just after I got mine, I took it for a long drive on some twisty highway with elevation changes, and it was nice not having the speed run away from you if you didn't hit the brakes. It's really a feature not a negative.

These are really good points! I’m sure I’ll get used to it and learn to like it as well! Just wanted to make sure it was normal haha
