All,

I have the above-mentioned Ram with the 3.6 v6 motor with 52k miles on it. During my last oil change (at the dealer) I was told there was a small seepage of oil coming from the timing chain cover on the passenger side, the fix that quoted me would be north of 3k. The good news is I still have time and miles left on my extended warranty that should cover it but my question to you all is has anyone else had this issue? What was the success rate of the fix?

Thanks

Bob

Seepage of oil… that can mean a lot of things. If there isn’t a visible drip or oil running down the engine, do nothing. Synthetic oil weeping through a gasket and giving a slightly wet look isn’t a need to panic. Also, if the previous oil change guy was clumsy and dripped a bunch of oil from the filter down the front of the engine and did a lousy job of cleaning it up, the remnants could be called seepage.

Have a look around the front for yourself. Seepage could be a big can of worms or a dealer trying to get a $3k payday for nothing.

Thanks for the feedback. I looked from above and underneath the engine and see what the dealership is seeing, I took a rag and wiped down the area and will look again in a few days. there are no signs of a leak on my driveway pavement so it's a wait and see issue.
