2020 Ram 1500 as a TOAD.

Has anyone set up their 5th gen Ram 1500 (2020) as a TOAD? I am looking at pulling it behind my Class C motorhome on a E450 chassis. Recommended hardware? Advice?

Is it a 4wd? If so, apparently you can flat tow it with proper hitch set up, supplementary braking in truck, with certain other requirements satisfied. Your owners manual should discuss more. The bigger question is if your motorhome can tow it. 450s as a motorhome chassis is usually poor choice for any type of residual payload capacity and towing capabilities. Based on the 450s my family and some friends have had over the years for campers, I would be reconsidering having such a heavy vehicle towed behind your camper.

Thanks for the info. The 2025 Forester 3011DS I have has a tow capacity of 7500 pounds. My Ram is a 4WD and I have already ensured it is towable, I just wanted to see if anyone was already doing it with a class C. Thanks again for your response.

Tow capacity is reduced by payload capacity usage, you can read a ton (no pun intended) about that by searching in the forum. Towing essentially a 4-corner wheeled trailer the physics are a bit different but with your camper loaded with gear and people you don't have that kind of tow capacity. And with a high center of gravity on the camper, you're going to really feel that truck behind you whenever a tractor trailer is passed. Recommend considering a shorter, lighter vehicle to mitigate the potential for a white knuckle adventure.
