Battery replacement for a 2020 Ram 2500 question

I've searched the forum and didn't come up with much info. I have a 2020 Ram 2500 with the 6.4l gas engine.

My battery is the original factory battery from February of 2020. No issues but it's time to find a replacement before I do have issues. I've had good luck over the years with the EverStart brand (Walmart).

I've been looking at the EverStart AGM H7 battery. It's an almost exact replacement with slightly more CCA 850 VS 730 on the original. Simple remove/replace and I should be good.

I've read on here but couldn't find the post's that talk about going with a H8 battery and having to remove a tray or something to make it fit. Has anyone done this to their 2500? How did you make it fit? What battery did you use?

Take out existing battery, look in bottom of tray, you will be able to see the plastic block that holds the H7 to one side of the tray, that is the only piece you have to take out to fit an H8.

I use Costco Lead Acid in all my vehicles. I have not replaced the H7 battery in my 2020 2500 yet. It still tests at 97%.

The same hold down bracket as before.

H8 are longer but not wider.

There are slight differences by maker so check before you buy.​

This is the piece you are removing, not the hold down bracket. Just use a thin flat bladed screw driver to release the tabs holding it to the tray.

H8s are longer not wider. Left middle of picture/battery tray you can see where the hold down bracket and bolt go.

You can even put an H8 in the cars,by either buying the pursuit spec battery hold down,or using a hacksaw to modify the original hold down bracket
