That motortrend article says "Not for grand touring" but then doesn't close that thought with what it's about instead..

I almost bought a Laramie Sport GT this week but the chrome wheels, chrome badges etc aren't for me.

I'll say that the exhaust sounds amazing on it and the CAI looks great. The performance pages are cool but likely never to be used. Paddle shifters? Take it or leave it. The console shifter was awesome though.

Here are two pics of the one I had out.

Maybe GT is "Great Truck" ? :33:

Grand Touring in the sense of long trips and higher speeds is exactly what I want in a vehicle. I want to be able to take long road trips in comfort and have plenty of power on tap for interstate passing, room for luggage, etc. My Ram is almost always our road trip vehicle (ALMOST because if the destination has parking concerns where the Ram won't fit, well, duh). What I'd like in an actual Laramie GT package:

A slight lowering/leveling kit. Maybe 2"/4" or so? Retain the ride, increase handling, maybe a little bump in fuel economy (fuel economy = range and the more range you have the more options you have). A full time 4wd system, rear biased, that handles snow, heavy rain, etc for when you get caught in the mess on your trip.

Larger gas tank. Again, range = options = freedom.

HUD. It's one of my favorite features on my Camaro. I like having speed and basic info right in my eyeline as I drive, especially if it's...spirited.

Factory bed rug and hard cover that's lockable and water-tight. Touring involves luggage, after all. GT isn't about hauling mulch.

All season performance tires. Of course you're going to lose some off road capability. It's grand touring, not mud bogging.

The Rebel GT concept could be more of the luxury overlanding build.

Sounds to me your paying more $ on to the already increased prices/lack of incentives trucks and get the same as a bone stock slt type performance...Just like you buyin a $200 suit vs a $800 to go to dinner in..

I took my 2011 to Idaho and back. 4,000+ miles. Other than the fact that my truck is always thirsty, it was great. Comfortable; never did get dead butt, quiet, rides great, drives nice, all kinds of room. Actually it did ok on gas. 17 mpg. My buddy paid for every other fill up, so I guess I was getting 34 mpg. Lol.

My problem is: I still love my 2011. It has only 60,000 miles on it. They have yet to make one I like better. I guess I'm just going to have to buy a new one, and keep the old one.

I may have to look into that! Looks great!
Blackfox Brandon makes a kit these days, the buddy that made mine years ago, only made a few paddle shifter kits, more or less to prove it could be done, lol. Brandon is tough to track down these days,as he doesn't like the new format much,so he's not on here very often anymore. You might be able to track him down on facebook though.

$3K for this garbage added to a Laramie is a a complete joke. Who wants stickers put on their truck and cheap *** rubber mats? Put a K&N on it yourself which will be better anything Ram will develop anyway and spend your money on a Pedal Commander to remove the ridiculous lag these drive by wire trucks come with and you'll be glad you did. If you want this list of cheap garbage on your truck save some cash and buy a sport model with a console and then outfit the interior with leather buckets. I've seen plenty of those out there for way less than $50K.

The only things I'd be interested in are the sport hood and 3.92 rears. I have 3.92s in my Express, and it was a $50 option back then, IIRC. Maybe the console shifter, but I'd still rather have a column shifter. None of the rest of it interests me, especially at $3k. But they'll sell them.
