Depends alot on the truck.I sold my 2014 regular cab shortbox 4X4 a couple of months ago and got $36,000 for it,and i only paid roughly $28,000 when i bought it brand new in Alberta
Agreed. I bought my 2018 Sport Crew Cab 2x4, leather, heated/cooled seats, 8.4 screen, blackout and tow package in 05/24. The first time I saw it, the dealer had it in the air finishing an oil change, and it was super clean, no rust whatsoever. Carfax was clean as well, but it had 109,6xx miles on it, and they were still asking $28k USD...on a six year old truck.

I am looking at a 24 Warlock Hemi crew cab, 4x4 has 5k miles, dealer is asking $43k USD. Sticker was $61k
Sharp looking blue and black with 20" wheels. Goodyear street tires, but very basic interior.
My trade is a bare-bones '23 Tacoma SR V6 4X4 Doublecab. Dealer is allowing $29.5k for my trade. Paid 32,800 for the Taco, plus tax and tag

I'm on the fence between the Warlock, with $16k out of pocket or the Rebel with $10k out of pocket. Warranty is still good on the 24 plus it's certified with the 7 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
But the comfort trade-offs (Rebel has a bunch of options) are what making it a hard decicison.

Any input?

I don't get it.. cars are an investment the same way food is an investment you buy it because it enables you to do other things not because you expect to sell it later and break even or make a profit. Maybe silly limited edition hypercars increase in trade value but they're basically a NFT which happens to occupy physical space.

I don't think anybody in the thread believed they would make a profit. Comparing depreciation is more akin to reducing an expense than expecting appreciation. You're going to pay, but paying less for the same service is better than paying more for the same service.

I traded my 2013 Ram Lone Star crew cab In August of ‘24. It had 150,000 miles and some engine, ABS, and body repairs needed. Found a 2022 Warlock, crew can, short bed, 4x4 listed for $32,000. It had 31000 miles. When I got to the dealership to look at it, they had dropped the price to 28,500. They gave me $8000 for my truck. (It was going to cost me 5000 to get the repairs done, so I decided to upgrade.) I went from a Hemi to the v6. I’ve been totally happy with the warlock. In Texas a used truck hasn’t been much cheaper than a new truck so when I started looking I had only a few requirements: under $30,000, under 40,000 miles, and no navigation system to constantly update. It HAD to have a backup camera , Apple Play, and the radio with a little larger screen. I’ve had the truck nine months. I love it. There gas mileage averages 17 city, 24 highway. It’s peppy. No problem passing on the highway. While it doesn’t have heated seats or steering wheel, power seats or leather, it has enough comfort to make it enjoyable to drive. The Red color and black trim along with the Warlock decal package make it a pretty stylish truck.
