I see Ram has announced the production electric Ram for 2024.
Only problem for me is it won’t be geared towards the people who need their truck for work. A 6’ bed is useless to me.
I know a 4 door Ram sells better than a 2 door but come on…

Two door trucks look cool but they just don't sell enough of them apparently.....................

I would have loved to have a 2 door shortbed Ram. But when I was buying my truck, I had to think about taking my siblings around. They didn't have licenses at the time.

Electric vehicles will be fine for many folks. But then there's folkslikeme that will need to put 500-1000 miles on, towing over 10k, in a limited time frame. Or people in cars that need to drive 500+ miles in a day.

Recently the take rate on crew cabs was over 80%. Quads only got 14%. That other 6% was regular cabs.

We are headed towards a world with nothing but crew cabs.

I just hope the 6.4' bed becomes more popular in cc. I buy trucks used and those are like a unicorn in a half ton currently.

For me my regular cab works great, it's just my wife and I. We are happy with the room when we go on trips, it'll pull a small camper which is all we need for 2, it's a little hot rod if needed and the best part is there is only 2 people to have to worry about bathroom stops when traveling! LOL Otherwise we have her Durango if the need arises, a 5x10 trailer that either vehicle can pull for housing projects and the cost difference between a regular cab and a 4 door truck.....ain't even going there!

In the 3/4 ton segment, regular cab trucks are more common. I don’t need all that payload capacity.
98% of the time I am by myself. If they made a 1/2 ton 4 door with an 8’ bed I would consider it but Dodge/Ram stopped building them in 2008.
The last iteration of that combo they had 8 lug axles. Basically a light duty 3/4 ton truck.

A lot of folks have fond memories of the old single cab trucks. I don't because I still own and use one. I have an environmental core drilling machine mounted on a 1984 C30 1-ton Custom with no factory AC. It's like riding in a tuna fish can. The old vinyl bench seat is worse than a country church pew and with no tilt steering wheel, I barely fit in it. And I'm not that big by modern standards. Imagine driving over 400 miles in 100+ degree heat in a little cramped space cab like that loaded down with sampling supplies too fragile to go in the toolbox. I know we ALL did it back in the day. But after experiencing that now, anybody would swear off a single cab truck forever. :D

I agree with you on the older trucks but I'm 6'1 and my wife is 5'10. We ride in it every weekend and on long trips during vacations and we find it pretty comfortable. We can't lay back in the seats horizontally to go to sleep but that's what hotels are for! LOL

I know what you mean. I'm 6'2" and my sweetie is 5'10". So it's pretty well the same deal. Plus, there's no room for all my stuff.

The technology is there...... Tesla is already well past there... A Tesla has as much range in a realistic time span as a gasoline vehicle.
That same technology is there and more is coming in trucks...

The problem is not how much the battery can store.... But the infrastructure. Tesla has supercharging stations all over the US..... The big three have already struck deals, entered partnerships or bought quick charging companies.....

Until there is one standard plug for all electric vehicles, there will be supply issues. Folks that are in heavily populated urban areas believe everything is available. Let me take you places I go in rural areas, and you need to pay attention to refueling points. Be it gas, diesel or the rare electric.

I can go close to 600 miles @ payload capacity on 1 tank of gas in my Pentastar. Please provide the proof of any electric truck that can come anywhere close to that.

Seeing how there is no Electric truck yet on the Market. (the F150 Lightning is rolling out soon)
And it is not projected to go 600 miles. About half that actually.

But I do not think it is realistic to go 600 miles on a tank in any full size truck. I am not doubting that you can and do.... But assuming you have a standard tank, 600 miles is extreme. Most folks would have to drive and operate their trucks in a radically different manner than they normally do in order to get that sort of range on a tank of gasoline.

Just got a less desire to live feeling thinking I would want an electric vehicle bad enough to buy a ford! Ain't happening! LOL
I would buy a Ford no problem but they can stick their EV's where the sun don't shine. It would be easier for the cops to pick off the idiots who think that everyone within a square mile wants to hear their car "make em big boom boom" from their loud stereos though...............

As stated above, I have a Pentastar with a 32 gallon tank. I easily get 600 miles at payload limits, and maybe 100+ more miles with only 2 passengers on trips.
