23.1 mpg

I was helping move my sister from Chattanooga TN to Warner Robins GA today and I followed my step Dad in a 16ft rental truck. We didn't go over 70 mph very often at all. I pulled into Warner Robins showing 23.1 mpg on the evic. It was 23.5 till traffic in Atlanta got stupid for a few minutes.

Unbelievable considering I've got a CC.

My trip from South Carolina to New York today. Cruise at 78 (rpms 1600-1700) through North Carolina Virginia (posted speed is 70) but hit some bad traffic on parts of route 95 (almost dead stop)

Followed a buddy home from a camping trip a few weeks ago. I tucked up into the draft from his camper and was running on MDS and getting around 22mpg with 35x12.5's and 3:55's.

Now the key is fill the tank and check it manually. I'm sure it is still above 21 but not quite to 23.

My single cab is getting 17.5 around town right now, should pull mid 20's on the interstate from what it looked like the little bit of time I was on it with it so far. My g/f's 12 CC ram gets about 19-20 on the interstate, which isnt bad really for a crew cab

Yea, I really wish I had set the trip and got a true reading. I know on my recent trip to New Orleans I only got 18. That one was no drafting help and running 77ish a lot of the way.

Against the wind I was seeing 16.7 or so MPG

You also have the 6 speed, the people getting the highest readings are all 8 speed's with 3.21 gears. Cruising 75 I get a hair better mileage than you do but not much.

What is the MDS?

Multi-Displacement System. V8 engine shuts down to 4 cylinders to conserve gas.

Most of the time yes. You'll have short periods of 8 cylinder then it will drop into 4. I know in my truck you can pretty much tell when it does this, especially with an aftermarket exhaust. Around town I use the shift button to put my truck in 6, so it never comes on.

Not necessary. "ECO" means your driving efficiently. MDS may or may not be on. When it comes on you may feel a slight vibration of the gas pedal or some drone from the exhaust system. When MDS is on and you need to come out of it by pressing the throttle there is a slight delay in power because it is going from 4 to 8 cylinders

Yeah you can definitely tell when it is in. I had no idea our trucks did that. Mine is a 2012 lonestar, so I guess it does! I don't have a shift button otherwise I'd use it

You should have a plus and minus bottom towards the end of the shifter stalk. Otherwise tow haul mode will disable it for you if you want.
