I got the big fancy 12" display. For the life of me I cant see a text come in. I can hear it beep on my phone, but it never pops up to allow it to be read or for me to reply? Am I missing something? My Base model 18 Equinox does this? I gotta be missing something somewhere.

Can you verify that your phone and truck are connected via Bluetooth?
My 2014 connects automatically and quickly, but I am the primary/default.

If I want to connect my wife's phone, even though it is already listed in the menu, it can be a pain. So I'm wondering if your truck is just looking for the last phone it connected with?

Just spit-balling here, your Gen 5 and my Gen 4 don't really have a lot in common, but this is the first thing I thought of based on my experiences.

Using Apple CarPlay you can’t read it or type a reply. There should be a pop up on the screen indicating a text came in. Click/touch the pop up and CarPlay will read the text to you and verbally ask if you want to reply. Say “no” and it’ll say OK and go back to its previous function. If you want to reply, speak your reply. I always start my reply with “yes, say”, don’t know if that’s required but it’s what I do.
It will read your reply back and ask if you want to send it. It’s a safety measure so you don’t take your eyes off the road to read a lengthy text.

Not sure if android systems work the same.

@KeithP I didn't think about it but my '14 and Android work the same, can't read it but the truck will "speak" it out loud and gives me the opportunity to reply verbally.

Even so I still get a pop-up that covers everything else, I can press "listen" or press the red X to close it. Sounds like the OP's truck doesn't provide that pop-up?

im using an iphone, and that's exactly what im used to with my lil equinox. A text would come in, and pop up on screen and I could tap it to have it read to me, etc..maybe I need to have the carplay app up and not like media or comofrt or something? weird..

I didn’t mention with CarPlay the screen has to be in CarPlay mode to see the pop up. You won’t see the pop up on the default screen.

If you know a text came in, tap the CarPlay icon to open screen, icons just like on your phone should appear. The text icon will have a red dot on it indicating you have unread texts. Tap the icon to open it then tap the text you want to hear.

So it works, I went to carplay and could see my text and select it and have it read. This seems very backwards compared to a nearly 8 year old equinox that I can have spotify on listening to music and a text can come across and it pops up and I just have it read. But at least I know where its at.
