I have had many Dodge/Ram trucks in my life. Without a doubt, the best one was my 2020 Ram 1500 Limited. That had to be the most amazing vehicle I have ever owned. It had an air ride system second to none. The interior was beautiful. My wife agrees, that was the best vehicle she ever was in.
Unfortunately, it wasn't the right size to tow our newer 5th wheel camper, so we traded it in for a 2020 Ram 3500 Dually Limited. The 3500 was nice, but didn't ride close to the 1500. Oh well, we needed it.
In July 2022 while towing our camper in New York state, the engine failed, rod through the block (little over 37K miles at that point). Four months later after lots of emails, phone calls and problems, finally got the truck back. Royal Chrysler after having my truck for four months, no loaner, no compensation for missing the entire summer camping with grandchildren, called and said the truck was complete. Upon arrival, the truck was COVERED in dirt, inside and out. They did apologize stating they just didn't have time to get to clean it. How bout a free oil change they offered? No thanks, the 5 hours return trip home was awaiting.
Ever since picking it up, every now and then we would get strong exhaust fumes filling the cabin. it didn't happen often, but when it did it was really bad. We went to Myrtle Beach in Jan 2023. The trip there the smoke in the cabin happened once. While there I also had a check engine light come on. The Ram dealer in Myrtle beach identified the light as a failed intake heater. They could not duplicate the smoke. They called and had me come get the truck, while they awaited the parts.
A week later, once again the truck was at the dealer (third time stuck without a vehicle, no loaner offered) getting the intake heater replaced (also took a week).
July 2024, transmission not feeling right. Dealer could not duplicate Smole again, said engine and transmission software updated. Upon receiving the, driver's armrest door lock stopped working when exiting the truck. The horn would beep 3 times, like the key fob was left inside vehicle.
Jan 2025 finally figured out smoke only happens while performing the exhaust regeneration. Took to dealer for smoke, door lock and seems to be doing the regeneration a lot more often. Appointment for Tuesday, they didn't touch until Friday. Dealer could not duplicate smoke, door lock, had to order master lock switch. In order to check for regeneration, there was a flat fee of 2 hours to (force) into regeneration. NOT covered. I had them do the regeneration, and they duplicated the smoke at that time. Found gasket missing in exhaust between engine and exhaust. Most likely from when Royal Chrysler replaced the faulty engine. The mechanic forgot to install the gasket.
Now I am being charged to fix the door lock, charged to fix the exhaust leak. And I told them not to work on the regeneration issue at this time. I did contact Royal Chrysler to see if they would pick up the exhaust issue, So far no return phoner call from the service manager.
Had to get my truck back, so just had it fixed.
Upon receiving, they claimed the door lock issue was repaired. After a couple of days realized the lock problem was still there. Returned it to the dealer. NOW they claim the RF Hub located behind rear seat is bad. water intrusion. Blaming me as I installed a rear camera on upper third brake light. $1100 repair. Why didn't they find that the first time, prior to needlessly replacing the master door switch and calling it GOOD?
Performance Dodge of Woodbury sucks. Terrible communication. Poor troubleshooting!!
