Having issues with my stock A/C compressor om 2007 Ram 2500, Cummins 5.9. when the clutch engages it sounds like the compressor is being ripped from the frame. have checked freon and oil levels and found nothing wrong. I have heard of the oil level draining off when it sits. is there any truth to this?

I know nothing about diesels or the 2007 2500 but I gotta ask, are you sure it’s the compressor clutch? On a gasser the added load from the AC compressor puts additional stress on the serpentine belt system. If your AC is still blowing cold check the serpentine belt, tensioner and idler to eliminate any issues with the simple stuff. Could be a bearing going out on a pulley making the noise instead of the compressor.
