Decisions decisions. I can get the Wild Peak 295/70/17 from Pep Boys on a Buy 3 get 4th free deal. Or the 285 70 17 for full price. I don't know why they have it set up like that but it is. The 285 is a D rated tire while the 295 is an E. The 285 dimensions are 32.7 and 11.6 vs the 295 33.1 11.8.

I am leveled with a 2.5" RC kit and have the 1.75 spring spacer in the rear. I do not think I will have a rubbing issue with either tire. Am I thinking correctly? Or will the 295 be an issue on a stock tire?

Next question: I do not plan on running either of these tires at max pressure if I get them. Will running them at a much lower pressure effect the amount of mileage I get out of them? I know my truck is really light compared to what both tires are rated for. I will probably run them at 40 to 44.
Thanks!

That's usually where I like to keep my tire pressure... on my stock Goodyear's (they suckkkk). Generally speaking, the higher your air pressure, the less rolling resistance on the ground thus less energy to get going (better fuel mileage), but if too high, can decrease stopping power/ increase distance, and cause instability in certain situations (rain, mud, etc.)

Also, I'm not sure about a 295 rubbing... I wouldn't think so because the wheel wells look pretty huge lol.

I had 295/70/17 Nitto TerraGrapplers on my old 07 with bilsteins set at 2.8 and it was very close to rubbing with the wheels straight and it did rub at full lock.

I had a slight rub ring going around the inside of the tire which didn't last long before I got some aftermarket wheels with a -12 offset. You may want to check to see if they changed the offsets between the 3rd gen and 4th gen wheels though so you may not rub or not as much.

This is what drives me nuts. I have just read about 20 pages of information and am more confused now then when I started. There are guys running 33x12.5x17 on factory 17's with no rub with just a 1/4" spacer. The 295's tires are at least a 1/4" narrower than those. But I may or may not need a spacer.

Will I get more mileage out of an E rated tire versus a D rated tire?
I would love to have the extra . 4 of an inch in height and. 2 in width. I really don't want to run spacers though. I would need to have the spacers in hand when I get the tires mounted to make sure the alignment is right. But I may or may not need the spacers. DILEMNAS

Probably get about the same mileage if your hauling heavy stuff the E-Rated will come in handy. 295/70/17 has 16/32nds and the 285 has 17/32" tread depth so it's kind of a toss up.

and E rated tire will also have a firmer ride, but less side wall flex when turning.
I think on any truck our size, even the small little one (RCSB, like mine) an E tire would be a nice addition.

The E rating doesn't bother me. They will be aired down to 40PSI.. Having the extra ply on the side wall would be nice also. BUT I will probably be getting the 285's. I really don't like running spacers. If you really want to read a lot confusing information try to research what size tire will or will not rub on a stock rim. I wish someone who had 295's on a 4th gen would actually chime in here.
