Hi. I have a 2006 Dodge ram 1500 2wd with a 4.7L V8. I was planning on going the 6 inch lift route with 35's, but I was wondering if I could get away with a 6 inch suspension lift and 2 or 3 inch body lift so that I can run 37's. Would I be pushing it too much since I don't have 4x4 or a HEMI??? I would imagine gears would have to be upgraded, but what else would I need to do?
Thanks in advance.

The general exhaust, intake, and a tuner are always a good idea for power. Gears for sure. I wouldn't be expecting good gas mileage from a 4.7 pushing 37" tires.

Its your truck and you can do what you want with it.. personally I wouldn't lift a 2wd cuz I plan on going offroading but if it won't see dirt then I don't see anything wrong with a lifted 2wd. Now with the 4.7 and 37s you'll be hurting gas wise and speed wise.

Performance wise, unless you plan on doing major motor work, BlackedOutHemi nailed it on the head!

IMO lift it all the way, but definitely gonna need gears and more power like what BlackedOutHemi said, but I'd say go for it.

Oh, and Welcome to RF

go for it but i think the 4.7 would not get the greatest gas mileage pushing 37s.

Here I is!!! I've got a rough country 6" with Daystar 3" coil spacers on top of that, in the rear I have the blocks that came with the lift and I installed a Fabtech add-a-leaf kit. I'm only running 33" tires but I can clear 38's just with the suspension.
Hope this helps!!!!!

Droid Incredible 2 on the move!!!

lift it! i have the same truck as you pretty much, and have a 7'' cst lift and 35s on stock 3.92s and it pulls fine not sluggish at all, with a 3'' body i would clear 37s which is probably the route im going to go someday, also your truck wont be underpowered especially if you put 4.88s gears in it that will make your truck feel better than stock. i say lift it and get 4.88s and minor bolt ons (exhaust, intake, and programmer) diablo sport really seemed to wake my truck up

WOW! Thanks a bunch guys. Y'all gave me everything I needed to know. I probably should have stated that I was planning on programming and a cold air intake (and my truck already has magnaflow duals). Anyone have any specific brands for programming that would work well?
Thanks again
