Hi guys, just purchased a 2018 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins. Trying to decide what size tires to go with, and wanted to get some experienced opinions. The truck has the off road package, which seems to sit up a little higher than a stock 2500. The tire shop says the 35x12.5x18 will fit fine with no mods. I am going to leave the stock rims on for now. I was thinking of doing a 1.5 to 2 inch leveling kit for the front down the road as well. Leaning towards the BF Goodrich all terrains. Most of my driving is country roads doing about 55-65 mph, with the occasional expressway trip at 70-75 mph. I also pull my salmon boat during the summer. The salmon boat is pretty light at about 3500lbs. I’m basically just looking to make the truck a little more beefy, and need some good all around tires as I drive in a lot of snow and backwoods roads. I’m having a hard time deciding between a 35 or a 33 inch tire. I know mpg,s will suffer a little more with the 35, but wanting to know if anyone has any advice on deciding which ones to go with? Thanks!

As always, depends on how you use your truck.

If you care about vanity get the biggest meanest looking knobbies you can. Don't half ass it, you decided on vanity now own that!

If you care about function get the most minimal change from stock that will accomplish your needs. That will return the greatest fuel efficiency, most consistent handling and lowest overall operating cost as well as being easiest for passenger entry and exit.

Just want to start with sayings
That is a nice looking truck!!

And I agree that a truck that big needs 35's.....I run 35's on my 1500 but can't suggest a tire for you because I live in Texas and never drove in snow before[/QUOTE]

A Toyo mt setup would look sick on that. And they're not terrible in the snow. More snow u have the better they dig. I'm running firestone at2 now they got nasty bug treads so I'm curious how they do in deep snow. They are scary as hell on ice tho lol

Has a lot to do with how ya ordered it to begin with . I had 4.10s in one of my earlier 1500s mainly because I knew I was going to put 35s on it. With 35s at 60 mph I was turning about the same rpm as a 1500 with the standard tires and 3.55s so leaving stock size tires is not always the best . It depends on what you were planning on doing " before" you bought the truck and hopefully bought accordingly.

If you measure your tires now I think they are 33's so 35's will only add another inch in height. I'm going to 35" all terrain BF's myself in the spring.

Something to consider is that if you are getting ko2s and live in snow you will face a dilemma. There is a ko2 “hd” for heavier trucks such as yours but the harder rubber means you loose the tires having the snow rating. If you get the k02 that has the snow rating the softer rubber will wear quickly on your 2500 ...
This is all based on reviews and advice I’ve picked up on from other threads

A lot of 2500 guys (and 1500) guys seem to love the Falken Wildpeaks

The smallest I would go with in a 2500 would be 35’s. Probably would do 37’s. 33’s look to small for a 1500 imo.

I have Moto Metal M0962 0 mm offset, will 35’s fit without rubbing or do I need to stick with 295/70?

I live east of Carson City, NV about 13 miles and commute daily to work in Reno, NV. The winter driving can get intense sometimes; so when I bought new tires for my 2011 Ram 2500 Tradesman, I wanted the longest rated all terrain snow rated tire (3-Peak symbol on the sidewall) I could get. I ended up getting from Les Schwab a set of their Open Range tires. LT275/70R-18/10 on Thanksgiving weekend. The first Monday back to work had me driving in another winter blizzard storm. I really liked the sure footed feeling this tires gave me over the prior Firestone highway treaded tires that were last on the rig.

When I bought my rig in October 2018 it had some Cooper all-terrains LT265/70R-17 mounted on the stock chrome looking (plastic chrome) steel rims. I was able to to buy a set of "pull-off" stock aluminum rims & Firestones (LT270/70R-18) that came of a 2018 Ram 2500 Laramie. When the Firestones were new they had good and deep tread and I was only driving the 13 miles from Dayton to Carson City, so the winter commute wasn't bad last year. However I had driven about 30,000 miles since I got that last set.

Before the Thanksgiving Holiday break, I drove in two different winter storms during my commute to my new job in Reno. The Firestones had worn off more than 50% of their tread since I had bought them and the tread's performance in the snow was noticeably diminished out on the highway. The Firestones also tended to pick up small rocks and pebbles in the tread and I was constantly digging them out of the tires. The new Les Schwab tires have a more aggressive tread and don't pick up the small rocks and pebbles in the tread like the Firestones did.

Here are some pics of the older Firestones & newer Les Schwabs

From various calcs 33 vs 35

If your speedometer reads 65 mph, you are going about 69.1 mph, and about a -100rpms difference @65.

Being a 2018 (me also), to make the tire size changes requires a security bypass cable & OBD software ($120) or a trip to the dealer ($?) if you want to change it.
