I have a 2012 Sport with 3.92 gears. I'm trying to decide on tire sizes. I have a 2" level on the truck, so I got quotes for 275/65-20 BFG KO2's, 35" Mastercraft MXT's, and 35" Cooper St Maxx's. I do quite a bit of highway driving so I'm afraid to go too big and kill my mileage. What are you guys running and what mileage are you guys seeing (and how much did it drop from stock). Thanks guys!

35" Tires and MPG's

2015 crew cab 4x4 with 8 speed and 3.92s. My tires are 35x12.50 cooper st maxx. I drive mainly 2 lane country roads (45-60 mph), and a fair amount of highway at 65-70. I get anywhere from 14.5-15.5 hand calculated, depends how spirited I drive. Stock was around 16.5-17.5 with same route but I also babied then. I installed these 35s at 3k miles

I've got what I like to call "small" 35's and I get about 13ish around town and 16ish on the hwy. I bet I'd see 17 mpg on the hwy but I'm normally running 78-83 mph so the speed isn't helping.

Oh ya, all hand calculated.

I have 275/65/20s you can see my MPG in the signature line. Not great, honestly if you don't need the additional traction I would stay close to the stock size. I have a hard time believing some of these lifted MPG claims on here. I track all my fuel expenses with the fuelly app and have seen only 17.6 once and that was driving borderline dangerously slow. typically I'm around 13.5-14.5

Convert, for now.

small
To me, as low as gas prices are, losing 1-2 MPG on highway was well worth the look at bigger tires...I did 285/65/20's

Thanks guys for the help. I think 1-2 would be a reasonable loss so I'm going to take the chance with 35" tires.

I went with a 295/65. It's almost an inch wider and an inch taller.

I have 275/65/20 Terra grappler G2 on stock wheels, I'm sitting around 16.8 MPG mixed driving. But I also have Hemifever tune and adjusted for tire size. But just like anything else, it all depends how much you put yer foot into it.

My truck with 35's usually sits around 14L/100 KMS, which is about 16.8 US mpg. That's with the 8 speed, 3.92 gears, 91 octane Hemifever tune, S&B CAI, and an MBRP Cat Back.

It's the badass trucks like this that still get over 3mpg better than mine that make me want to dump it for an ecodiesel or at least an 8spd hemi rather than my 6spd:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Well driving conditions also play a big part, I don't drive in the city much, so those numbers are mostly highway

Highway (75mph around here) I get 15ish typically with nothing in the bed. I got just under 10 towing a small 6x12 flatbed trailer with two quads on it last Saturday.... Power was spectacular, the truck didn't struggle much at all. I could, however, watch the fuel gauge drop...

This.

For instance a guy I work with, 13 quad cab 8 speed hemi claims to be getting 18-19 city all the time. Yet when I had the stock tires, cai AND a tune and I could only pull off 15-16 city. It ended up coming down to simply the roads we were driving on. I live by a huge university so its always stop and go and also very hilly...literally every road is a hill. On the other hand my co worker lived out in the sticks and took flat roads and cruised 50mph for long stretches.

All this seems to be pretty subjective, I get around 13 city stop and go driving most of the time
