My truck has a 36 gallon tank which is no longer available. I'm wondering if you can swap the 36 gallon tank to the 34 gallon tag of course swapping sender tank and related as anybody done this?

Did you mean 26? The available tank sizes are 26, 34 & 35.

Sorry. I have 35 gal. Which is no longer available. The 34 gal is still available (last I checked) and was about 1/2 the price of the 35 gal tank.

I figured I would by the complete set up (tank, sender / pump, straps etc) just not sure if all the lines etc are in the same spot

The size differences are the length of the tank, height is still the same (capacity is different by length), you're just supposed to change it in the computer if you change tank size. They are interchangeable within year, you just have to make sure you don't get a diesel tank by mistake. Depending on length difference you may need another heat shield. What happened to your original tank?

Stalling when filled, evap code from leak in the white plastic, and my gas guage is beginning to act erratically (showing a 1/4 tank then empty when I start the truck a bit later. Then sometimes back to 1/4 after another key cycle. +190k and never been out.

If the sender is erratic, that's the fuel pump unit itself. What white plastic are you talking about? Where the pump is in the tank?

This is what is leaking if I remember. It is part of the tank / non serviceable. Tank will leak if on a hill and smells like gas after filling.

Also stalls when tank is filled to the point the pump shuts off.
Stalls under power momentarily then continues at highway speeds.
Will stall and shut off truck if stopped and rpms drop below 1200.
Will intermittently stall when tank is at various levels.

Check your evap cannister. Sounds like it's full of fuel.

My solution was to replace the canister, purge valve, and filter. No problems since.

I know I'm resuscitating an old thread, as I am in the market for a new tank. My truck has the 26 gallon tank and I'm curious how I would update the computer if I upgraded to a 34 gallon tank. Also, would I be able to keep the EVAP equipment from the 26 gallon tank?

"Computer" specifically is the EVIC. It has the DTE feature and that bases off the tank size. It's a menu option I found in my DRBIII.

Interesting... Where would a commoner like myself acquire DRBIII?

Also, would I need to get a different EVAP setup, or could I keep the stuff I have for the 26 gallon tank?

Most of them were snapped up during the great dealership purge of 2008-10 lol. Still plenty floating around in eBay though; be prepared, they're not cheap and only good for 2005 and older (PCI bus) vehicles.
