3rd gen differential

Hi all, new to this forum. I just picked up a 05 3rd gen 1500 and was wondering if this year model comes with a closed diff or if I can somehow lock it for 2 rear wheel drive?

Eaton tru-trac is what will work for you, they were Detroit tru trac . One of if not the best out there.

Factory was open I believe. Not sure if some came with limited slip. You can get a trutrac limited slip for it.

Good morning everyone,

From the service manual, "
The optional Trac-Lok™ differential has a onepiece
differential case, and the same internal components
as a standard differential, plus two clutch disc
packs".

The trucks had an open differential with an optional Trac-Lok.
If you would like to check, lift your truck and spin one wheel. If the other wheel spins the opposite direction then it is an open differential. If both wheel spin the same direction then it has a locker.

....or take your VIN and call the dealership, parts or service, they can tell you your truck build.
