Check to see if your wheels are centered right now. When you lower it, the rear tends to shift forward. The lower control arms just re-center it but if you are centered now and may touch. You still may touch with the lower control arms. My guess would be the rear isn't centered dead on right now though. Most aren't from the factory.

I am not sure how centering would help. The issue I have is, front to back the cover won't fit.

First, I am gonna install the 2/4 drop, spohn panhard bar, and control arms, and then figure a way to fit the diff cover on.

I want it on there really bad! :)

For some reason I thought you were already lowered. The lower control arms help you re-center your rear end in your wheel wells. They move front to back but now that I really think about it, I don't think these will help you with your problem since they happen to move the entire rear end. Which the panhard b iars connected with so it'll move with it. Once you lower the truck though, these arms will be needed to re-center and align your entire rear end.

That's what I was thinking too... Thanks for the input.

I only have the Ground Force 2" drop on the back right now, but I have the Belltech Kit 2/4, Spohn panhard and upper/lower control arms on order.

I am goin to worry about the diff cover when I put the lowering kit in.

I know that this is 8 years later, but I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Eco Diesel. I have installed the AEV Ram Recruit package on it, along with a lot of other upgrades. I have 35 inch tires and a 4 inch leveled lift. the truck came with the factory Mopar 3.55 gears and a Limited Slip Differential. It also has the 4x4. I do a lot of towing with our camper, so having a lower gear will likely make a huge difference.

I want to do a 4.56 gear swap. My question for you is since this is a 4x4, do I need to change out any front gears on this truck? I have been researching online, and all I can find is rear gear replacement kits, nothing regarding front gears. the last thing I want to do is put my truck in 4x4 mode and tear things up.

Please let me know if you can provide any guidance on this!

Thanks!

Steve

If anyone is considering having this done, maybe this will help (not on tech issues, but more on the feel and performance). :)

Had 3.55 open dif, swapped for oem 4.10 w/oem LSD. Used Royal Purple gear oil (it's premixed with lsd additive), mini install kit, all new bearings, Mag-Hytec dif cover (I had a little issue with it fitting).

Immediately I noticed the following:

1. Smoother yet, more sensitive throttle reponse
2. Smoother shifts, less shifting and searching for gears
3. A more balanced and planted feel on acceleration
4. More engine braking, which I like (something I miss about a stick shift)
5. An overall lighter more agile feel to the truck, less bogging down

Now, if I could only speed up the 500 mile break in period!!!

Your truck has the ZF front diff,if you want to stay with a bolt in replacement ZF diff, you need to buy a complete front diff,as the ring gears are welded to the carrier, and you can't change them. Your front ZF options are 3.21 / 3.55 or 3.92.If you want 4.56's you'll have to hunt up the earlier AAM 8.25 front diff, and follow Dilligafs thread which he posted above
