So i have the old engine out and the new old one here. Both have the heads off. When i go to turn them over by hand my original engine turns over harder then the new old one. Mine engine has 150'000 km (95'000 miles) on it and the replacement has 190'000 km (117'000 miles). Is this normal for that extra mileage? Also the replacement has oil gunk in the oil filter and the oil pump it black with oil. My original is clean.... Any ideas?

the black gunk is from not changing the oil enough.
& the engine turning diff from each other could be several things.
If you have the oil pan off, check some bearings & see how they look.

Yea, but not developed in to a rattle yet..... Also the wristpin seems to be about .030 off center.

The wrist pin is tight on the rod and the rod is able to move side to side on the pin in the piston.

So i have been after this tick for a year now and i finally fixed it. I have done timing chains, lash adjusters, replaced both heads etc..... It turned out to be piston #1. The wrist pin was bored of center .0030. So i replaced it and got the engine and heads cleaned and the #1 bore honed. And put it together. I ran it without the spark plugs in to get oil kinda throughout the engine. Start her up and she now runs smother and quieter then ever!!
