So from what I have read and seen on YouTube, it doesn't sound like the dreaded Hemi tick. I upgraded my exhaust manifolds 4 months ago and that tick has not come back. But now when I accelerate it ticks. ONLY when I accelerate. Idling and cruising at a constant speed, not tick. Is this the start of the dreaded hemi tick?

No. Cams tick all the time.

They didn't get your exhaust manifold tight or use a good gasket or get the manifolds planed flat.

Back from vacation and checked the heatshields and they are solid. Definitely not loose when I had two snapped bolts before upgrading the manifolds back in October.

Would a bad injector cause the ticking sound when accelerating or giving it gas at idle? Going to the shop that swapped the manifolds on Monday to check the torque. Just trying to figure out what could be the cause if everything is torqued down.

Presumably, if you only hear it while accelerating, then you only hear it while your inside the cab. Unless you have a side-car. :33:

Broken manifold bolts, lifters, etc are most noticeable from outside the truck, especially if you listen near the wheel wells.

Injector noise is pretty audible from inside the cab. Is the insulated hood pad and the plastic engine cover in-place? Without those in place, the injector noise is significantly louder from inside the cab. Especially under acceleration, when the injectors are working hardest.

If you're worried about lifters/manifolds, then listen from outside, near the wheel wells.

I'll do a video today, but it is noticeable both outside and in the cab with the doors closed. The engine ticks on start up like it did when I had two busted manifold bolts, but once warm the tick goes away. The difference between then and now is with the busted bolts, it didn't tick under acceleration. Everything is attached under the hood. If it is an injector making the ticking sound, is it bad? I am not getting any injector or misfire faults.

It doesn't sound like typical hemi lifter tick. Stuck valve maybe, maybe flex plat but it doesn't sound rotational to me. Take a piece of paper with engine on to tail pipe, see if it tries to suck in and flutter or of it only pushes out. Normally a stuck/sticky valves is going to have a lot of other symptoms, but sometimes not, see if it is early stuck valve. No other symptoms?

Something to look for is to make sure none of the exhaust mounts or braces (between the pipes) are broken.

But wouldn't a stuck valve be stuck at different times? This only happens under acceleration. I will do the old paper on the tail pipe. I can't remember when I did that. LOL I think I am going to stick a stethoscope on top of each injector as well, but you would think I'd get a fault. I have the alfa OBD and it comes up clean.

Are you talking about exhaust in general or the exhaust manifolds?
You need new exhaust manifolds that is 100% your noise its not the usual hemi tick just manifolds.. they warp and the bolts snap Once the manifolds are off you will need a welder to get the old studs out do not drill them.

Exhaust pipes

There is a brace in front of the cats on my 2500 that was cracked. If I kicked the tailpipe it rattled.

A couple years ago I welded it and it has been quiet since then.
