while im working on my sons water pump any other improvement I should do while down , I saw one to remove check valve when changing trans fluid ,

should I run seafoam in it before changing the motor oil?

You can do sea foam at anytime. And what mods are you thinking of doing? Yes that check valve should be removed or replaced.

im just thinking of preventive maint. not performance unless fuel savings .

Right.. Well sea foam, new air filter, maybe a pcv valve. Oil change unless already done. New plugs and wires. That should do it, that's what I usually do do old vehicles, or just maintenance.
