I'm looking for info on doing a 4.7 to 5.7 swap on a 2002 4wd. i've looked around and haven't been able to find any info. has anyone done it? have any links to info on the subject. what will i need other than engine harness and ecm? is it for the most part a direct bolt up thing. or will it be more trouble than it's worth?
any help would be great.
thanks

I know I have seen it done on an 04 and 08 but not an 02. The trans will need a support and the computer and throttle with need to be worked out. It can prob been done with alill bit of research and with some more info from some other guys but I have seen where the 4.7 pcm can run the hemi but its lean.

Fast4.7 on DT did a swap on his 06. Sean should be able to get your AF ratio's correct with SCT(if that's an option for your truck) using the 4.7 PCM, but you'll need either the complete fly by wire electronic throttle or go with the cable driven Mopar TB made for Hemi swaps. Also I'm pretty sure your computer system should support your auto trans because they're the same aside from software. Still lots of work with the ALT/AC/PS are all different.

i ran across a 5.7 complete alt, ps pump, ac compressor, harness, ecm a while back that went for around $800 i've spent way more than that messing with the heads on my 4.7.
could the tb for the 4.7 be used on a 5.7. i guess i need to go and get a good look at a 5.7 in a truck never really had a good look at one to see how much difference there is. i know the alt and ac compressor are in different locations but don't know much else other than that.
i was trying to find out what else i was in for if i decided to find one and do the swap.
thanks for all the info.

That's basically what you'll need, donor everything. Also the TB is different and much smaller on the 4.7.

Finding a donor truck would pro ably be best. That way you have all the parts you are gonna need.

I have done a couple odd swaps in the past and using a donor is the cheapest way to go. Just the time and money in chasing some small part adds up pretty quick. Good luck...

I've done a few 4.7 to 5.7 tuning conversions but they've all been with NGC pcm trucks. I don't know how the jtec '02 pcm will work with it. If you have the 5-45 flashed tcm it may run the trans.

i've been thinking about the swap. and since the 2002 only came with the 4.7 or the 5.9 i think it would be easier to go with a 5.9 than the 5.7.

wont make a difference, i'd get the 5.7, you need all the electronics for them to work anyways

Did you ever try the 5.7? I have a 2002 with a blown 4.7. I'm pretty sold on putting the hemi in. I found a 2003 5.7 hemi, complete engine, PCM, TCM, all belt accessories and wiring harness.

At this point, I'm not sure if I my motor mounts will work and I'm not sure about the throttle/accelerator. I believe they went to an electronic setup on 2003 so I'm unsure about the cable from the pedal to the TPS setup. Anyone have an idea?

I guess I should start a new thread for my questions but I thought I would see if you've pursued the 5.7 install?

I just dropped a brand new 4.7 in my 02. I blew the original one up....litterally...lol

Wanted to do a 5.7 swap but would have has to swap motor mounts, wiring harnesses, the brain, tranny mounts, and it just wasnt worth it....to me anyway...

The 5.7 doesnt have enough to make it worth it.....

The 4.7 with a set of good gears and your good to go!

I'd go with the 5.7, if my motor goes I'm not gonna even mess with another 5.9L. I want a little bit more power....

The Best Donour for an 02 would be the 03 For sure! Just my 2 cents if I was to pursue your project!

If he could get a complete 05 to run that computer would be the trick I would think.

03 seems to be a hit and miss tuning nightmare, the 04s are alill better long as its not the early PCMs from what I gather and the 05 does everything.

I didn't even know they made 4X4's for 4.7L. But yeah, if you can manage to find all the parts, and get the computer to work. I say go for it! The rest is just repositioning, and lots of wrenching work!
