So I'm running stock stereo with an audiocontrol lc6 and a rockford fosgate T400/4 with alpines spr69's so. I took out my truck from the body shop connected back the amp so now when I put volume up sound cuts off and amp in protected mode everytime I put volume higher it cuts off so could only hear music inlow volumes I thought their was a short some where so I replaced all of my speaker wire and rca's but same problems keeps happening so I kind of need help I'm thinking either speakers that were removed from body shop went bad or the amp itself help please!!!!!

I would check the levels on the audiocontrol first. The amp is likely going into protect mode from high input levels. It accepts up to 4 volts. Or you have some wires crossed somewhere.

What did the body shop do to the truck?

I suggest trying to isolate the problem. Unhook the RCAs from the amp. Get your phone and run a headphone jack to RCA wire straight to the amp and play some music. Use the phone to turn it up. If it goes into doesn't shut off, your audiocontrol is probably out of tune or wire wrong. If it does shut off, unplug your speaker outs and try them one at a time until it shuts off.

Are there any spices in you output wires (connected to factory wiring anywhere from the amp to the speaker)? I would think if there was a short, it would shut off immediately.

How long was it working and how well was it working before the body shop visit? The amp is rated at 60 x 4 in 4 ohm and the speakers take 100 watts and are 4 ohm. You might be asking too much of the amp.

Do you have a solid ground? I.E. grounded to the chasis where all paint has been removed to shiny bare metal? Check the fuse holder as well, voltage before and after the fuse.

What did they disconnect that you had to fix?

When you say spices what do you mean? Before taking it to the shop was working perfect well not that perfect I replaced my old amp because it would overheat swapped it with this rockford fosgate T400/4... body shop painted my truck so they had to take off the door speakers and doors etc.... if I just play my rear speakers full volume does not shut off and when I put full volume on only the front ones it shuts off unless I play in low volume

Splices is what I meant. Not like salt n pepper in your wires. Do you have any connections between your amp and your speaker? Is it one solid wire with no butt connectors?

So if your rears work okay and your fronts cause the shut down, start looking there. Check the front inputs to the audiocontrol with a volt meter. You should get a positive AC volt if you touch the positive lead to the positive wire and negative to negative wire. If its a negative reading then your wires are backwards. Check both front inputs to make sure they are an equal reading. Then check your gain on your audiocontrol. You might be able to check the voltage on an RCA output wire. Center pin is positive, outter ring negative. Don't short it out with the meter probe. Check all the RCA outs (they will change depending on the music playing and the volume). They should not exceed 4 volts. If higher than 4 volts, you need to turn down the audiocontrol. It will probably distort anyways if its turned up. You can check the ohms of your speakers as well. Disconnect the wires from the speaker, stick in the VOM probes. You should get close to 4 ohms.

Does the amp get hot before it shuts down?

So if it started after install, maybe they installed it incorrectly. One way to tell which door might be causing it is to disconnect one door at a time. 4 channel amp, so just disconnect one door, let it play. If its still in protect, remove another door. Isolate, and then it might point you in the right direction. I bet they have a speaker wire pinched, putting it into protect.

Well I did the install and it was working before all I did was swapp out my amp with a different one and connected everything witch is simple problem started after taking it out of the shop I would have to test one by one to see what I get I hate troubleshooting electrical when problem doesn't pop out is pretty frustrating!!!!! Especially when I have limited time to work on my toys!!!!!

Someone at the shop using your truck as a shop stereo while it was in and maybe blew the speakers?
