4" Vs. 5" Exhaust Tip & Cat Back Comparison Question

Hey Guys,

I'm thinking about adding the Borla 140308 cat back, or the Mopar P5155280 cat back to my '17 Bighorn 5.7 with the 5'7" bed.

My main question is will the 4" or the 5" tips both fit the bumper cut out? I assume they do, just don't want any surprises. (Pictures comparing the two tip sizes would be great)!

Any general comments of one system over the other are also welcome.

Many folks, myself included, have 5" tips on their 4th gen ram. Here are my 5" Mufflex tips for reference.

FYI, you want the Borla 140307 not the 140308 the 07 is for through the factory bumper cutouts and the 08 is for under the bumper for trucks that have single exit exhaust from factory.

As for which is better, I love the sound of the borla S and ATAK on the 5.7 Hemi. Quality is great on the Borla kit as well. Let me know if we can assist you with a quote. Just send me a message

just installed the atak this weekend and love the larger tips. looks like it means business now, sounds like it too.

alignment annoys me a bit...probably my fault for doing it alone (someone holding the tips in place while torquiing everything would seem to be an easy cheat), but while overall fit/finish is amazing i felt like no matter how much i adjusted the tips they were always off a little one way or another. probably ocd issues. the tip-end adjustment clamps on the factory setup makes it very easy.

Just curious what is the benefit of a cat back exhaust, and if it’s performance how would it compare to full exhaust? Like headers and new cats plus 5” tubes back.

My question is , I have an aftermarket mbrp cat back exhaust .... do they make 5” tips that fit the mbrp exhaust
diameter. I’m assuming they are diff diameter than the stock exhaust.

sorry I can't help you with that. My stock exhaust were 2.5" where I swapped out the new pipes.

I know Carven and Moe’s makes 5”. Is that what everyone’s using? Any other manufacturer the fit the stock pipes?
